My Reflection Day 1- Day 9

Day 1: December 9, 2024

My first day at Ata-Atahon Elementary School was very exciting. The day
started with the flag ceremony, which was a nice way to begin the day with
respect and discipline. After the ceremony, Principal Tubasis introduced us to
the teachers and gave us our assignment. I was placed with the Grade 4
class and would be observing Ma’am Pinlac.

In the classroom, Ma’am Pinlac greeted us with a smile and asked us to

introduce ourselves to the students. I could tell that she had created a warm
and welcoming environment. As the lesson started, I noticed how she kept
the students active. When they seemed tired, she played a song and had
them sing and dance, which helped them stay focused.

Ma’am Pinlac also taught the students to be honest. During cleaning time,
she asked the students to say what they had done, and they would answer
truthfully. This showed that she had built trust with the students. In the
afternoon, Ma’am Pinlac repeated the energizing activity to make sure the
students stayed focused. I also met a student named Gerald who had
difficulty reading. Ma’am Pinlac mentioned that we could help him, and it
reminded me how important it is to support each student’s needs.

At the end of the day, I felt both tired and happy. I learned a lot by watching
Ma’am Pinlac’s teaching, and I feel more excited to continue learning about
teaching. This day has given me the motivation to keep working hard and
stay focused.

Day 2: December 10, 2024

On my second day at Ata-Atahon Elementary School, I saw more of how the
classroom works. There was no flag ceremony today, but the students
started their day by telling Ma’am Pinlac what they did in the morning. Just
like the first day, the students were honest about what they had done.
Ma’am Pinlac also checked their assignments before starting the English
class.

In the lesson, I noticed how Ma’am Pinlac would always ask the students to
recall what they learned last time. She did not move on to the next topic
until the students were ready. If they were not ready, she would go over the
topic again or give them an activity to help them understand better. I
thought this was a great teaching strategy, and I would like to learn how to
do this as well.

In the afternoon, Ma’am Pinlac played music to energize the students, just
like the first day. This helps them stay focused and not feel sleepy during
class. Even though some students were a bit mischievous, Ma’am Pinlac
remained patient with them. Before we left, she gave us advice on how to
handle student misbehavior and how to prepare for our lesson the next day. I
also observed some challenges today. Some students were not paying
attention and were distracted. One student, in particular, seemed to struggle
with staying focused. It reminded me of how important it is to make sure all
students are engaged and involved in the lesson. I need to think of ways to
keep students interested and make sure they feel motivated to participate.

Overall, this day gave me a deeper understanding of classroom management

and the importance of keeping students engaged. I look forward to learning
more about how to deal with different classroom situations and improving my
teaching skills.

Day 3: December 11, 2024

On my third day as a student teacher at Ata-Atahon Elementary School, I had

a chance to be more involved in the lessons. The day started with Teacher
Princess Solomon teaching the students about the difference between fact
and opinion. She used clear examples and interactive activities that helped
the students understand these concepts better. I was able to observe how
she engaged the students and kept them focused on the topic. After the
English lesson, the students took a short break and then came back for
Science class. I was able to assist with the topic on force, building on what
Ma’am Pinlac had taught the day before. I used simple activities to help the
students understand force and motion better, and I could see that they were
actively participating and asking questions.

In the afternoon, the students had their MAPEH class with Sir Philip. They did
an art activity where they learned about the nine elements of art and applied
them by tracing and coloring. It was great to see how the students expressed
their creativity, and I enjoyed watching them learn in such a hands-on way.
One of the biggest things I learned today was how important it is for teachers
to maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment. Even when
some students were distracted or didn’t follow instructions, the teacher
managed the class calmly and encouraged good behavior. Ma’am Pinlac also
took time to help students who were struggling, which showed me how to be
more patient and attentive to each student’s needs.

Towards the end of the day, I got to see how my fellow student teachers
conducted their lessons. Ma’am Pinlac provided us with helpful feedback and
advice on how to improve our teaching techniques. It was a good opportunity
to learn from others and see how to manage the class when you’re in front of
the students. Overall, my third day was filled with valuable lessons, both in
teaching and classroom management. I look forward to using these
experiences in my future teaching practice, especially the importance of
engaging students and offering them support when needed.

Day 4: December 12, 2024

On my fourth day as a student teacher at Ata-Atahon Elementary School, I

had the opportunity to observe my co-student teacher, Miss Balasbas, lead a
Science lesson. She did an excellent job of engaging the students, and it was
inspiring to see how actively they participated in the lesson. It was clear that
her teaching methods were effective in capturing the students’ attention and
fostering their curiosity about the topic.

Miss Precila demonstrated an English lesson, and I was impressed by her

teaching style. She did a wonderful job of keeping the students engaged, and
it was evident that her clear explanations and interactive approach made the
lesson more enjoyable for the students. Watching her in action gave me a
deeper understanding of how to manage the class and ensure all students
are actively involved in the learning process.

Later in the day, Miss Precila taught an English lesson where she introduced
herself and used a short dance to energize the class. The students
responded positively, and their enthusiasm made her feel more confident in
her teaching. It was encouraging to see how a little movement could
immediately lift the mood of the class and get them more focused on the
lesson. Ma’am Pinlac led a Filipino lesson where students categorized
sentences into “Sanhi” (cause) and “Bunga” (effect). She also taught a
Science lesson on rigid and soft objects. In the afternoon, my classmates
discussed their plans for their final demonstration lessons, and Ma’am Pinlac
offered advice to make the lessons more effective. Her encouragement
motivated us to do our best.

The day ended with a discussion among the student teachers, where we
shared ideas and received feedback from Ma’am Pinlac. Her advice was
valuable, especially regarding strategies to keep students engaged and how
to manage the classroom effectively. I realized that teaching is not just about
delivering information, but also about creating an environment where
students feel motivated and excited to learn.

Reflecting on this day, I am reminded of the importance of being adaptable

and creative in teaching. I look forward to incorporating these insights into
my future lessons and continuing to grow as an educator.

Day 5: December 13, 2024

It was another productive day. In the morning, Ma’am Pinlac gave a

summative exam to test what the students had learned during the week. In
the afternoon, Ma’am Precila discussed reality versus fantasy in English, and
my classmate Miss Balasbas conducted a Science demonstration that
included hands-on activities. The students enjoyed the experiments, which
made the lesson interesting and fun.

On my fifth day as a student teacher at Ata-Atahon Elementary School, I

witnessed the importance of routine and energy management in a
classroom. The day started with the usual attendance check, followed by a
cleaning activity. This small task helped set a positive tone for the rest of the
day and encouraged students to be responsible and involved. Afterward,
Ma’am Pinlac engaged the students with a lively dance session. This was a
great way to get the students energized and ready for the lessons ahead.

Later in the morning, I observed how Ma’am Pinlac reteaches any concepts
that the students struggled with. It was clear that she values making sure
each student fully understands the material, which is an essential part of
teaching. I also had the chance to witness some of my co-student teachers
teach, including Ma’am Adorno’s English lesson and Sir Tandugon’s Science
class. Both lessons were well-structured and engaging, which made me
reflect on how I can implement similar strategies in my own teaching.

In the afternoon, I participated in helping a student named Gerald with his

reading. We used an alphabet book, and it was wonderful to see his progress.
Providing him with individual attention helped him make small improvements
in his reading skills. At the end of the day, Gerald received a reward for his
effort, and this experience showed me the value of positive reinforcement.

As part of our student teaching preparation, Ma’am Pinlac assigned each of

us a topic to teach for the upcoming days. My classmates, Sir Jirec Tandogon,
and others were assigned to teach various subjects. This collaborative effort
helped me see how important it is to work together, especially when
preparing for teaching.

Reflecting on this day, I learned how vital it is to create a structured, positive,

and engaging classroom environment. By using energizing activities,
providing support to struggling students, and working collaboratively with
fellow teachers, I can create a classroom where every student has the
chance to succeed. I’m looking forward to applying these lessons and
continuing to grow as a future educator.
Day 6: December 16, 2024

The day started with the flag ceremony, which helped set a respectful and
disciplined tone for the students at Ata-Atahon Elementary School. It was a
meaningful way to begin the day, and it reminded me of the importance of
school traditions. After the ceremony, I had the opportunity to observe my
fellow student teachers as they conducted their demo lessons. I paid close
attention to how they engaged the students and managed the classroom.
Watching them teach gave me valuable insights and ideas for my own
lesson.

When it was finally my turn to demonstrate my lesson in Edukasyong

Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP), I felt nervous but was confident in my
preparation. Mr. Jerume A. Loquite, my cooperating teacher for EPP, was
there to observe me. I had set up a seating plan to help the students focus,
and I used different techniques to keep them engaged. I encouraged them to
ask questions and made sure to patiently explain any concepts they didn’t
understand. The lesson went well, with all of the students participating,
which made me feel accomplished.

The experience taught me the importance of preparation, patience, and

engaging students actively. In the afternoon, my classmate taught a Science
lesson on magnets, which the students really enjoyed. They were fascinated
by how magnets work, and it was exciting to see their curiosity come to life. I
was able to observe how my classmate used hands-on materials, such as
real magnets, to make the lesson more interactive. The students were eager
to answer questions and ask their own, which made the lesson even more
engaging.

It was a great learning opportunity for me, as I saw firsthand how a well-
planned and engaging lesson could captivate students’ attention. I also had
the chance to work with a student, Gerald, on his reading skills, which felt
truly rewarding. As we read together, I was able to provide individual support
and encourage him to keep improving. The day ended on a positive note,
and I felt proud of how much I had learned and accomplished. It was an
invaluable experience that boosted my confidence and reinforced my passion
for teaching.

Day 7: December 17, 2024

On my seventh day as a student teacher at Ata-Atahon Elementary School, I
started the day by observing my fellow student teachers as they conducted
their final demonstration lessons. Ma’am Adorno kicked off the morning with
an English lesson, which was well-executed, and I took notes on her teaching
methods. Watching her, I noticed how she kept the students engaged and
used clear, effective strategies. Afterward, Sir Jeric Tandugon led a Science
lesson about magnets, and I appreciated how he made the lesson interactive
with storytelling and activities. Seeing these demonstrations helped me think
about how I could improve my own teaching.

The afternoon session was focused on preparing for the upcoming Christmas
party, and I got to work with my co-student teachers to organize the
students for their Christmas dance and song. It was nice to see the students
excited about practicing, and I enjoyed helping them prepare for the event.
In between, I had the chance to continue working with Gerald on his reading
skills. Over time, I’ve noticed improvements in his abilities, and it felt great
to see how much he’s progressed. We rewarded him with a small snack to
encourage his effort.

Overall, this day was filled with valuable lessons and experiences. Watching
my classmates teach, preparing the students for the Christmas party, and
working with Gerald gave me plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. I’m
more confident in my ability to teach and handle different classroom
situations, and I’m looking forward to applying everything I’ve learned in
future lessons.

Day 8: December 18, 2024

On my eighth day as a student teacher at Ata-Atahon Elementary School, I

started the day by greeting the students. They were so excited to see me
and ran over to give me hugs, which made me feel really happy. After that,
we helped set up the classroom by arranging the chairs so the students
could practice their Christmas dance and song. Once they finished
practicing, my fellow student teachers and I went to the stage to help
decorate it for the upcoming Christmas party.

Throughout the day, we worked with the grade 4 students to make sure they
were standing in the right spots on stage for their practice. The excitement
was contagious, and everyone was so happy to be preparing for the
celebration. In the afternoon, we continued decorating the stage, and then
we moved to the classroom to plan the parlor games for the party and make
sure everything was ready for the next day.

This day was a mix of helping the students with their lessons and getting
ready for the Christmas party. It reminded me how important it is to have fun
events like this while also focusing on learning. I really enjoyed working with
my co-teachers and the students to make the party special. Watching the
students practice and seeing how much they enjoyed the preparations made
the day even more meaningful. I’m looking forward to the Christmas party
and continuing to help the students learn and grow.

Day 9: December 19, 2024

On my ninth day as a student teacher at Ata-Atahon Elementary School, the

day was filled with excitement and celebration as we had the school’s
Christmas party. This was a very special day for both the students and the
teachers, and it was a wonderful way to end my time at the school. The
festive atmosphere made me feel connected to the students and the
community in a way I hadn’t experienced before.

In the morning, I helped out with the Christmas party for the parents, but I
couldn’t stay long because of some unexpected circumstances. Later, I
joined the students for their party, and when I arrived, they greeted me with
hugs and big smiles. It was heartwarming to see how excited they were for
the celebration. I spent the afternoon assisting the grade 4 students and
helping them with their dance performances. It was amazing to see them
perform and have so much fun.

One of the highlights was when the Jollibee mascot arrived, and the students
went wild with joy. Their faces lit up as they saw the mascot, and it was a
reminder of how simple things can bring so much happiness. After the
performances, we went back to the classroom, where we had games and
handed out gifts to the students. It was a perfect ending to the day and to
my experience as a student teacher at Ata-Atahon.
Reflecting on this day, I realize how important events like these are for
building relationships with students. It’s not just about teaching lessons in
the classroom, but also about connecting with students in a more personal
way. This experience has taught me the value of creating a positive and fun
atmosphere where students can learn and feel appreciated. It was a
memorable day that showed me the importance of community in education,
and it made me more excited about my future as a teacher.
