SCAL plug-in for Techlog Release Notes Introduction

The objective of the plug-in is to allow petrophysicists and reservoir engineers to condition data and
prepare a data deck for simulator by combining capillary pressure experiment (drainage experiment
for initialization) and relative permeability experiment (imbibition experiment for dynamic modeling).

Techlog environment

Operating systems
Techlog is supported on the following 64-bit architectures workstations:
• Microsoft® Windows 11.
• Microsoft® Windows 10.
• Microsoft® Windows Server® 2012 R2 (64-bit).
• Microsoft® Windows Server® 2016 (64-bit).

Note: From Techlog 2021, Techlog does not support Microsoft Windows 7 and 8.

Attention: The Schlumberger licence server was upgraded in 2021.2.

To enable
Techlog from version 2021.2 onwards and the Licensing tool to correctly set the licensing
environment, please be aware of the following changes inside the SLB licensing tool:

Platform availability
The plug-in was built against Techlog 2020.1 version and can be used on Techlog 2020.1 or newer version.

What’s new in the v6.0?

 Generate KR from PC - method to generate relative permeability for two phases from
capillary pressure.
 Keff from tables - You can use Keff from tables to integrate Reservoir Engineering data,
such as relative permeability tables, with petrophysical data (such as, saturation and rock
type) in order to investigate various scenarios.

What’s new in the v6.1?

Update version to support Python version 3.12 for Techlog 2020.1 or newer versions.

Known issues
 In Deterministic Rock Typing, in multi-well, when changing well while on the validation tab,
you need to change tab then come back to see the validation tab properly refreshed.
 When selecting a unit system, if display unit of a variable is different than the unit of the
variable in the project browser, the lines displayed in the cross-plots are not correctly
displayed if a conversion is needed.
If Unit System is set to None there is no conversion issue.
 Multi-well is not supported for most of the methods (may lead to crash of the plug-in).
 When using a python script in workflow engine: output variable type to be set to "float", but
default "auto" will convert in alphanumerical in PyWE and will generate a crash when outputs
are used as input of another method.
 When generating INTERSECT* output table fo Gas-Water system, only the
SaturationFunction node is available.

Limitations
 Multi workspace/dashboard is not supported (this potentially leads to Techlog crashes).
 Import data from Excel files on environment where Microsoft Office is not present or
activated can lead to plug-in or Techlog crash.
 Table generation method and Guided Workflow do not support two Dataset with different
reference variable (in both dataset reference variable must have the same unit and family)
 Dataset with Capillary Pressure and Relative Permeability data should have data in
overlapping interval (the range (min, max) of reference for capillary pressure dataset must
be within the range of reference of
 relative permeability).
 Plug-in does not support option of Techlog “Automatic adjustment in dashboard mode”(this
can lead to unexpected behavior).
