Opportunities exist for you to undertake research internships, working on innovative research projects in our state-of-the-art laboratories.

We aim with this module to provide you with knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of chemical concepts and the various branches of chemistry. You will also be able to apply and analyse areas of physical chemistry and analytical science.

The aim of this module is provide you with key concepts of green chemistry, waste minimisation, feedstock, catalysts and solvents and controlling environmental performance. You'll also be introduced to medicinal chemistry and nano chemistry.

Are you ready to explore advanced concepts within chemistry? Our module aims to give you an in-depth knowledge and an insightful experience of a range of advanced concepts in inorganic, organic and physical chemistry.

You'll gain skills to communicate scientific ideas via a variety of media as well as manage and plan projects. You'll also gain practical experience of designing scientific experiments and analysing results.

Our module will focus on independent study with a focus on the ability of studying and collecting results from an investigation that has taken place and to present these findings in a coherent, critical account by integrating various aspects of the course.

Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of our published course information. However, our programmes are subject to ongoing review and development. Changing circumstances may cause alteration to, or the cancellation of, courses. Changes may be necessary to

in UK for student satisfaction.

Core modules (60 credits in Years 1-3) are taken by all students enrolled on both single honours and major/minor degree programmes and cover those fundamentals of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry that we deem essential. Year 1 also includes a self-paced maths
course.

The remaining 60 credits in each year include 40 credits of Business Management modules, along with laboratory or project modules (with embedded communications and employability skills) designed to support the core chemistry, allowing you to develop your practical skills
and techniques as well as consolidate the associated theory from your lectures.

Additional mathematics is embedded in the physical chemistry module, as you begin to apply your mathematical skills to chemical problems. All of the maths material is delivered by staff from Chemistry, which ensures you are equipped with those skills you need to tackle the
more physical and theoretical aspects of our courses.

In Year 2, you will build on material from your first year as we employ a mix of lectures and practicals to develop further your understanding of the fundamental aspects of chemistry. In addition to these core courses in organic, inorganic and physical chemistry, you will take
business management modules in economics and financial decision-making and either human resource management or marketing and new technology.

In addition to modules in core chemistry, you will take modules in business management, covering corporate finance and supply chain management, as well as strategic and innovation management. You will also undertake a research project in an aspect of chemistry.
