INSTRUCTIONS: Answer question one and any other two questions

QUESTION ONE (30 MARKS)

a) Discuss three risks each involved to the system and to the data during the installation of
hardware of components (6 marks)
b) Discuss five tasks to be done before any installation can take place (5 marks)
c) Give some four hardware components that can be installed in a computer (4 marks)
d) Discuss three four functional elements of the computer hardware (8 marks)
e) List any three types of installation one can make (3 marks)
f) Define device drivers as used in computing (2 marks)
g) Define what is meant by a computer drive giving one example of it (2 marks)

QUESTION TWO (15 MARKS)

a) Njoroge an attendant at Huduma center wants to install and configure a new printer that
has been bought. Kindly assist him on the steps and procedures to follow (7 marks)

b) List any three different media that can be used in booting computers (3 marks)
c) An operating system is a software that manages computer hardware. Kindly discuss five
major functions of the operating systems (5 marks)
d) What is data back up? (1 mark)

QUESTION FOUR (15 MARKS)


a) Differentiate between clean installation and upgrade installation in regard to operating
systems (4 marks)
b) Discuss any four types of back-types (8 marks)
c) Define the following terms
i. Adware (1 mark)
ii. Spyware (1 mark)
iii. Grayware (1 mark)
