MOTIVATION

This activity is called “ Solution Match-Up Game”
1. Divide the class into four.
Are you familiar with this game, class? 2. Every group will be given an illustration board
and card that has problem and solution .
3. The group must decide if the solution matches
the problem. If they believe it’s a good match, they
place the cards together.
4. They need to pace the problem together with
their solution in the cardboard given.
5. If the group matches the problem and solution
correctly, they score a point. If it’s incorrect, they
try again with a different solution.

Problems: Poverty
Solution: A significant issue affecting millions
globally. Solutions include implementing social
welfare programs, job training, and education
initiatives to improve economic opportunities

Problems: Deforestation
Solution: the Philippine
government has implemented
various programs and initiatives to
combat deforestation and promote
reforestation, but the battle is still
ongoing

A. Lesson Proper/Discussion of the lesson
To understand our lesson today let’s make it simple
and concise Problem-solution text structure is a way of
Kindly read, yes Niana. organizing information where a problem is
presented and followed by one or more potential
solutions to address that problem."
This structure helps writers clearly communicate
issues and their possible resolutions. You'll often
find this structure in essays, articles, reports, and
speeches.
It's particularly common in persuasive writing,
argumentative writing, and technical writing.

Example: "If you read an article about climate

change, it might first explain the problem of rising
temperatures, then suggest solutions like reducing
carbon emissions or using renewable energy."

So this are the key feature of problem solution text, first

kindly read Jhandy. Key features of problem-solution texts:

1. Use of discipline-specific words

Use discipline specific words- These are specialized

terms related to the topic.
For example, in a text about ocean pollution, you
might see words like 'microplastics' or 'ecosystem'."
2. Objective, persuasive, and authoritative tone
Next is the tone of the text
The writer often tries to sound knowledgeable
means the text you are writing are full of knowledge
3. Varied target audience
where you can influence and persuade others, and
convincing, using facts and expert opinions.

And last is varied the target audience

Depending on the text, it could be written for
experts, decision-makers, or the general public. The
target audience of problem-solution texts can be
diverse and may include a combination of
stakeholders, decision-makers, the general public,
experts, professionals, educators, and students,
depending on the specific goals and objectives of
the writing.

In problem-solution texts, these markers help us
move from describing a problem to presenting
solutions. The purpose of transition markers are
To Improve the flow of ideas
Make the text easier to follow
Signal shifts between problems and solutions Examples of transition marker used in problem
solution
So this are the signals used in writing a problem-
solution text

For introducing the problem:

For example: "One issue is...",
"A major concern...",
"Students have too much homework. They feel "The main problem..."
stressed. Teachers can assign less work. This will
give students more free time."
For presenting solutions
- Improve it with transitions: "One solution is...",
"To address this...",
"One major problem is that students have too much "We can solve this by…
homework. As a result, they feel stressed. To
address this, teachers can assign less work.
Consequently, this will give students more free
time."

Problem-solution text structure is a way of

- organizing information where a problem is
presented and followed by one or more potential
solutions to address that problem.
Do you have any questions?
