Pattern is defined as a sequence of repeating objects,
shapes, or numbers. A pattern has a rule that tells us
which objects belong to the pattern and which objects
do not belong to the pattern.

Types of Simple Patterns


1.Repeating Patterns – These are patterns that
repeat the same way over and over.

EXAMPLE:

2.Growing Patterns – These patterns increase or


decrease in a specific way.
Example: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 (Increasing by 2)

3.Shape and Color Patterns – Patterns can be


formed using different shapes or colors.

4.Number Patterns – These are patterns in


sequences of numbers.
Example: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 (Skip counting by 5s)

Identifying Patterns
To find a pattern, look for things that repeat or
change in a regular way. Ask yourself:

● Is there a repeating order?

● Is the pattern increasing or decreasing?

● A pattern is something that repeats in a


logical way.
● Patterns can be found in numbers, shapes,
colors, and objects.
● Identifying patterns helps us in problem-solving
and logical thinking.
