LOYALTY
If you work for a man in heavens name work for him, and stand by the
institution he represents.
Remember an ounce of loyalty is worth a pound of cleverness. If you
must growl condemn and eternally find fault, why resign your position, and
when you are outside damn to your hearts, content, but as long as you are
part of the institution, do not condemn, if you do; the first high wind that
comes along will blow you away and probably you will never know why.

MILITARY PROFESSIONALISM

Men who adopt the profession of arms submit of their

own free-will to a law of perpetual constraint of their own
accord they reject their right. To live where they choose, to
say what they think, to dress as they like, from the moment
they become a soldier it needs but an order.

To settle them in this place. To move them to that. To

separate them from their families and dislocate their
normal lives.
In the world of command. They must rise, march, run
endured bad weather. Go without sleep or food. Be isolated
in some distant post and work until they drop.

They have ceased to be the masters of their own faith.

If they drop from their track. If their ashes are scattered
into the four winds that is all part and parcel of their job.
MILITARY DISCIPLINE

In the state of order and obedience existing with in a command. It

involves the ready subordination of the individual for the group. Military
discipline is an extension and specialized application of the discipline
of any organized society. Discipline demands habitual but reasoned
obedience to command, an obedience to command, am obedience that
reserves initiative and functions unfalteringly even in the absence of
the commander. Discipline is created with in a command by training, by
judicious use of punishment and reward, and by instilling a sense of
confidence and responsibility in each individual.

Discipline is best inculcated in an individual by appealing to his

sense of reason. In a few instances where appeal to reason fails, the
use of punishment is effective in using the recalcitrant individual to
conform or perhaps to appreciate the need for discipline.

Commendation and earned praise from senior to his subordinates,

either individually or collectively for a task well done. Serves to
strengthen the disciplinary bonds which bind together the smooth
functioning team.
