Notes
1 Piping class is limited to 1000kPag align with AS 4631 limited flexibility connectors and AS 4041 Parallel/Taper threads.
2 Piping class is limited to the maximum pipe size of DN150 as per AS 4041 Class 3.
3 AS 4041 Class 3 piping requires a hydrostatic pressure test or where the magnetic particle NDT is increased to 20% then an initial service leak test is permitted.
4 Hydrostatic test pressure to be based on 1.5x the line design pressure. Refer to the piping isometric or P&ID for the line design pressure. The line design pressure shall not exceed 1000 kPag.
5 Initial service leak test to be at 1.1x the maximum operating pressure using an inert medium (N2 or other approved). Refer to the piping isometric or P&ID for the maximum operating design pressure.
6 Refer to the project specific procedure for the gas tightness testing for all consumer piping operating above 200 kPag.
7 ASME B16.5 flanges are preferred followed by EN 1092-1, however flanges are to be selected based on connected equipment.
8 EN 1092-1 flanges are not listed in AS 4041; however they are deemed a suitable flange for the design and are listed in the pressure vessel standard AS 1210.
9 Bolt length and diameters to suit specific flange designs. Refer to ASME B16.5 and EN 1092-1 for details.
10 Higher rated flanges (eg PN25 and 300#) permitted to suit mating components.
11 Valve body materials may be Ductile Iron/Cast Iron/Carbon Steel/Stainless Steel/Brass. Ball material to be 316SS or Brass. Soft Seals required.
12 Gas Certification Required. Component certification to AGA, SAI Global, IAPMO R&T Oceana, Global Mark and BSI Australia is recognised by DMIRS (WA).
13 Threads are to be Taper/Taper unless in sizes of DN8-DN25 where Taper/Parallel is permitted. Parallel/Parallel requires leak sealing and approval from the gas fitter / gas inspector including a test demonstration.
14 Material certificates are not mandatory for AS 4041 Class 3 piping and components. Supply material certificates if practical.
15 Base of threaded socket (boss) to be profiled to the curvature of the header pipe for a set-on arrangement. Fillet weld throat size to exceed the below table:
Boss Diameter DN8 DN10 DN15 DN20 DN25
Fillet Throat (mm) 8 8 9 10 10

2 Piping class is limited to a wall thickness of 32mm.
3 AS 4041 Class 2A piping requires a hydrostatic pressure test or where the weld is subject to 100% RT or UT and 100% MP or DP then an initial service leak test is permitted.
14 Material certificates required for Hazard Level A and B piping above DN200. Material certificates optional for Hazard Level C-E piping below DN250.
15 Set-on socket installation NOT permitted in AS 4041 Class 2A piping. Use a Set-in type branch connection with a complete penetration weld. Refer to AS 4041 Figure 3.19.7 (f)(i) for details.

Notes
1 Piping class is limited to 1000kPag to match the above ground piping classes A1 and B1.
2 AS 4645.2 piping requires all new main and services to be subjected by proven test(s) in the form of pressure testing to validate the strength and detect potential leakages within the new service.
3 Hydrostatic test pressure to be based on 1.4x the line design pressure. Refer to the piping isometric or P&ID for the line design pressure. The line design pressure shall not exceed 1000 kPag.
4 Leak test to be at the maximum allowable operating pressure using an inert medium (N2 or other approved). Refer to the piping isometric or P&ID for the maximum operating design pressure.
5 Refer to the project specific procedure for the gas tightness testing for all consumer piping operating above 200 kPag.
6 Bolt length and diameters to suit specific flange designs. Refer to ASME B16.5 for details.
7 Higher rated flanges (eg 300#) permitted to suit mating components.
8 Manufacturers material certificates required.
9 Insulating gasket kit with bolt sleeve and insulting washes to be used as specified on the piping isometric.
10 All welds to be visually inspected in accordance with AS 4645.2 Clause 4.10 and if determined, non-destructive testing in accordance with AS 4645.2 Clause 4.9.2.
11 Gas Certification Required. Component certification to AGA, SAI Global, IAPMO R&T Oceana, Global Mark and BSI Australia is recognised by DMIRS (WA).
