OLIVER SURPRISE BIRTHDAY

Today is a big day for Oliver.


He is going to be 5 years old.
It is his 5th birthday and he is ecstatic!

Oliver wakes up very early


and quickly gets himself ready for breakfast.
He dashes down the fifteen steps of stairs,
quickly but carefully
as he does not want to trip and fall.
On the fifteenth step, Oliver makes a big jump!
Then gleefully skips his way to the kitchen.

On the kitchen table, Oliver’s mom has prepared his breakfast.


Pancakes with honey
and dollop of delicious whipped cream.
His favourite, of course.
Only for today, Oliver can have such a big dollop of
creamy white whipped cream.

“Happy birthday, my handsome Oliver!”


mom says with the warmest smile.

“Thanks!! I am 5 years old today, Mom!” Oliver replies.

“Can I get my birthday present after I finish my pancakes?”


he adds on.
Mom smiles and calmly says,
“Sure, but you need to clear everything on the plate.”

“OK!!”
Oliver quickly finishes his breakfast,
he even helps to wash the dishes.

When everything completes,


Mom and Dad comes into the kitchen with a box,
nicely wrapped and tied with a shiny blue satin ribbon.

Oliver hugs them both and says thank you,


and he rips open the ribbon and the wrapping paper.

So many questions come to his mind…what could be in the box?


A playstation?
Nah, the box is too light.

A cat?
But there is no meowing sound.

A LEGO set?
Oliver tries to shake the box but hears no LEGO pieces sound.
Finally, Oliver sees his gift, it is a red bicycle helmet
with gold thunder picture on the sides.

Oliver jumps excitedly and suddenly stops when he remembers


that he does not has a bicycle.

The he makes a wild guess… “Am I getting a bicycle too?”

Dad laughs and tells Oliver to follow him outside. Oliver runs outside
and there stands a new bicycle!
The bicycle is red in colour and it also has gold thunder on its frame.

It also has two small tyres


and Oliver says,
“It even has small tyres for newbie like me!”

He grins from ear to ear


and his wide eyes are glistening with excitement.

Dad takes Oliver and puts him on his lap.


“Today I will teach you how to ride this thunder bolt bicycle.”

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”


Oliver says repeatedly whilst his arms tightly wraps
around Dad’s shoulder.
Oliver learns to ride very fast and
he makes sure to always
wear protection gears every time he goes out cycling.
Mom will make sure he does!
