SVAR Assessment: Preparation Docket

SVAR Assessment, is an online assessment wherein the candidate will be assessed on their
communication skills. The test is approximately 20 minutes, per assessment. The assessment is done on

a single call, in six separate sections on:

1. Section A- Fluency:

This section requires the candidate to READ OUT LOUD the sentences mentioned in the SVAR

assessment sheet. There are 12 sentences in total.

Tips:

- Practice each sentence multiple times, loudly, until you are confident with each.

- Reach out to people for help with pronunciations, or look up the pronunciations.

- Since this is the only segment where the candidate already has the sentences beforehand,

ensure that you score as much as possible in this.

- Start reading out the sentence, only after the beep. Whatever is communicated before the

beep, is not recorded, and can therefore result in low scores.

- Practice, practice, practice- before you attempt!

2. Section B- Pronunciation:

This section will need the candidate to repeat the sentences being spoken over the phone.

There are about 9-10 sentences.

Tips:

- Only take the assessment from a quiet location.

- This segment needs a lot of concentration, since you would be required to repeat an entire

sentence.

- Try making notes OR repeating the sentence as it is being spoken for more clarity.

- Even if you don’t know or understand a word, simply imitate the speaker on the phone.

- If you miss out on one or two sentences, do not stop focusing. The scores are cumulative of all

the sentences.

- The more sentences you miss out, the lower your score would be.

3. Section C- Active Listening:

The machine will play a conversation between two people. This would be like reading a passage

and answering questions based on it.

However, the conversation will not be repeated and you have only one chance to get the details

right.

Tips:

- Sit with a notepad and pen.

- Note down EVERY minor detail that you think you might need.

- Note down names, designations, relations, timings, cities etc.

- This would make it a lot easier for you to answer, since the answers will be ready with you.

- For this segment, do not forget to listen carefully.

4. Section D:

This is a test of the candidate’s vocabulary. This segment has multiple-choice questions. The

machine will play a word and will ask the synonym/ antonym of the word. There are no tips to

clear this one, since this requires the candidate to really know the word and the meaning that is

being asked.

Tips:

- Remember to press the option number you choose on the phone keyboard AFTER the beep, else

the responses will not be recorded.

- Note down the correct option the moment you hear it, in order to not forget the option and key

in the responses correctly.

5. Section E:

This section is to test the candidate’s grammar. Multiple choice questions. The machine will play

some sentences, and the candidate must choose which the grammatically correct sentence.

Tips:

- Listen carefully to the sentences.

- The moment you hear a sentence, which sounds grammatically correct, note down the option
number.

- Press the option number on the phone keypad AFTER the beep, otherwise the responses will not

be noted.

- Go through the basics of singular and plural verb forms beforehand.

- (Verb + s ) is used with singular subjects, except I/ you.

Eg. He LIKES to ride his bike.

- (Verb) is used with plural subjects.

Eg. They LIKE to watch movies.

6. Section F: This section tests candidates on their capability of constructing grammatically correct
sentences. The candidate will be given a simple topic to speak on. Eg- A classroom. 30 seconds to
prepare for the topic. After the beep, the candidate must speak on the topic for 45 seconds. Tips: -
Make a note of all the pointers you would like to speak about. - Stick to simple, short sentences. - The
more complex the sentences, the higher the chances of errors. - Do not waste the preparation time in
constructing sentences. Take down the pointers and construct sentences when the beep goes off. - Try
describing the topic in present tense, since it is simpler to construct sentences. General pointers: -
Take the call from a quiet, undisturbed location. - Avoid taking the assessment from the cell phone. -
This assessment is an automated assessment. - There is no scope for repeating or clarifying, hence speak
loudly and clearly. - In cases where the candidate doesn’t speak loudly, the overall scores are NULL
since the voice isn’t recorded for assessment. - The instructions are very clearly mentioned. Please pay
close attention to the instructions. - In case of sections- C, D and E (Multiple choice), the answers will be
KEYED in from the phone pad. Eg. Press key 1, for option 1… so on and so forth. - Key in your responses
only after the beep. - DO NOT disconnect the call half way through.

Crowd Market-
A market place is a very busy place where people go to buy articles of their needs.
It is a centre of attraction for both buyers and sellers.
There are several shops, all decorated beautifully.
The buyers move from one shop to the other.
Big shops look more attractive.
Businessmen come here from far and wide for purchasing or selling their products.
Whenever I visit a market I find the hawkers shouting loudly to sell their goods.
They try to attract the people by several names.
As the prices of the items are not fixed, the hawkers as well as the buyers do
bargain.
It is very difficult to drive a car in a market place.
What to talk of a car or a motorcycle sometimes it becomes difficult even to walk.
On the occasion of festivals like Diwali, Dussehra and Holi the situation becomes
worse.

Airport-
I live in a small town near Talegaon in Pune. Last Sunday, my father had to go to
the Pune airport to receive his uncle. He took me along. I had never seen an airport
before, so I was very excited to go with him.

We reached there in the afternoon. The entire place was buzzing with people.
Outside the airport, there were cars and taxis. People were rushing around with
huge suitcases and bags. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry!

An airport is a place where airplanes can land or take off. Most airports in the world
have only a long strip of level ground called a runway. Many airports
have buildings which are used to hold airplanes and passengers. A building that
holds passengers waiting for their planes or luggage is called a terminal.

Hospital-
The only thing came in my mind when I heard about hospital, injections.
My friend has been lying ill in the Civil Hospital for some time past.

I learnt about his illness only a few days back so I decided to go and look him up.
When I reached the hospital I found it a huge building consisting of several wings with a
clock in the middle. The whole approach to the hospital was full of people waiting to be
examined or waiting to see their relatives.

When I entered the hospital through a big hall I found that there were a large number of
rooms on the left and the right.

The rooms were neat and tidy and there were separate arrangements for out-door and
in-door patients.

Doctors and nursing sisters in their white uniforms were moving up and down.

A hospital has several wards. There are female ward, outdoor patients ward and
emergency ward.

There is special hall called operation theatre. No one except doctors and the hurses is
allowed to enter it. Operations are done here.

Destination-

Manali is my favorite destinations from all the places I have

visited so far. I went to Manali with my college friends in 2015
during the winters. We chose to go there in the winters because
we wanted to see snowfall desperately. I kept my fingers crossed
while planning the holiday, in the hope to see snowfall while
holidaying in Manali. And this was so important for me, because I
had never seen snow ever before.
Due to time constraints we chose to fly to Kullu from Delhi and
henceforth hire a taxi to Manali. I was so excited about the trip.
From the airport we hired a taxi for Manali and reached Manali in
an hrs time. There was no snowfall when we reached Manali and
I kept asking the driver if there was a possibility of snow in the
next couple of days. He said, there might be and all I could do
was hope for it to snow.

Playground-
My school has a very big playground. It has a huge boundary wall. There were
many trees around it under which we sit and talk on matters of interest to us.There
are many flower plants too.

We use the playground for our physical training exercise and drills. We also play
many games like kho kho, kabaddi, foot ball, volley ball, hand ball etc. on the
ground. Sometimes the inter school games are also played in our playground. Our
school gives special importance to games and so it insists that all students should
take part in all games. During the lunch break, we sit in the shade of the tree and eat
our snacks there.

Our school annual sports meet is held on our playground. Even on the Republic day
and Independence Day, we arrange flag hoisting program on our ground.

We keep our playground clean. It is very useful for us. We learn all types of games
and sports with discipline and sportsmanship here. I am proud of my school
playground.

PET Dog-

Pets are like our family members. I have a dog as my pet. Its name is
Tommy. Its colour is white with brown patches on its body.It had been
trained before we had it as our pet dog. It is very faithful and obedient.
Tommy is very active and playful. It can smell any danger and barks at
strangers. He normally eats vegetarian food but also loves fish. It shows
love and respect to our guest by welcoming them. .It loves playing with the
ball and the both of us spend a lot of time during the holidays, playing with
my bat and ball. It guards my house too. I am very fond of my dog.

Flood-

Rain-water falls on big mountains as well as upon plains. As the river bed is lower in
level, all the rain-water flows to low lands and rivers. When the rainfall is heavy, rivers,
streams and other channels cannot contain all the rain-water in their beds. Then the
water overflows their banks. This called a flood.
The primary effects of flooding include loss of life, damage to buildings and other
structures, including bridges, sewerage systems, roadways, and canals.

Floods also frequently damage power transmission and sometimes power

generation. It may also cause the loss of sewage disposal facilities. Lack of clean
water combined with human sewage in the flood waters raises the risk of
waterborne diseases, which can include typhoid, cholera and many other diseases
depending upon the location of the flood.
The flood is a great evil. But it has some good effects. It
makes the soil fertile. It also washes away all impurities of
land. Still we never welcome a flood in a terrible form.

One day in hotel-

If you are looking for a good place with Italian food, I will
recommend you the Olive Garden.
It is my favorite restaurant. It is a chain of restaurants located all
over the India.
The restaurant offers a wide variety of Italian food that I love. I go
there with my friends at least once a month. Every time I go
there, I enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant, the taste of the
food, and the friendly service.

The Olive Garden is a good place where I always experience

welcoming atmosphere. The walls’ décor makes me feel like I am
in Italy. The service is great from the time I walk through the door
of the restaurant. The servers are very nice while taking dinner
orders and taking care of all guests. I also love the Italian
specialties. I usually start with their homemade soup with grated
cheese on the top and freshly baked garlic bread sticks. I like all
the food they serve in the Olive Garden. I tried all of the dishes.
Sometimes, if it is hard to decide what I would like to eat, I order
a special mix of the three meals on one plate. Also, I order a
glass of white or red wine on kind of food I eat. I often go to the
Olive Garden because I am always satisfied with the food.
The Olive Garden is a great traditional family restaurant where I
like to go with my friends. During my every visit, I enjoy the
spectacular food and excellent service. This is the best restaurant
where I always have a good time. Also, it is a great place to
celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or any other special occasions.

Flood:
A flood occurs when water overflows or inundates land that is normally dry. Flood
happens during heavy rains, when rivers overflow, when ocean waves come
onshore, when snow melts too fast or when damns or levees break. It is the most
common of the natural disasters. One more type of flood is Human Floods it
occurs because of Deforestation, Poor farming, Poor water management,
Population pressure.
When a Flood is occurs we remember some safety tips like
• Do not walk through moving water.
• If you have to walk in water, Use a stick to check the firmness of the ground in
front of you.
• Do not drive into flooded areas
• Do not touch electrical equipment if you are wet or standing in water.

Last weekend

My Last weekend was very good its reason behind i went to my sister home. I did
spend so much time with her and we went to market then we purchased so many
things like clothes, cosmetics etc. after that we went to pizza hut then we took
pizza and cock and in the evening we came to back home. We watched TV with
my family and after that we did chit chat with my family around 8.o clock after
some time we took dinner around 9:30 pm. after taking dinner we played game
on her pc and after some time we slept around 11 o clock

Busy Market Scene

Last Sunday I had a friend from my native village. He requested me to accompany
him to Pune Camp, dealing in a variety of goods. It was 3 o’clock when we set out.
Within half an hour we were there. What a crowded Market! There were large
crowds of people at the shops. The first thing that draws our attention in a market
place is its noisy atmosphere. The sellers shout their goods at the top of their
voice and the buyer’s bargaining over quality and quantity. We purchased so
many things like cloths, gifts for his family member etc. after that we went to
pizza hut then we took pizza and in the evening we came to back home.

A Railway platform

Railway platforms in larger stations are extremely interesting places. A visit to

such platforms is an education in itself. They are always filled with waiting
passengers. The moment one enters such a platform one is struck by the hubbub
of sounds, the bustle and the excitement of the crowds. Everyone on the railway
platform seems to be in a desperate hurry. Hardly anybody is in a normal state of
mind. Some arrive too early and impatiently fret at the waste of time involved in
waiting for the train. Others are seen hurrying to leave the platform, only the
railway staffs go about their work in a calm and quiet manner.

Playground

I remember in my childhood I spent so much time on my school playground, my

school has a big playground. It has a huge boundary wall. We play all types of
games in the playground. We play volley-ball, hockey, football, cricket and
basketball, our school Principal encourages all students to play one or the other
game.

We have very strong teams of players; they practice different games in the
playground. Various matches are held on this playground. The P.T. instructor of
our school gives us training in the playground.

He encourages all the players. Our teams have won many prizes in sports and
games. Our school playground has produced many great players. They play at the
national level. I am proud of my school playground.

My First Flight Experience May

I got an opportunity to visit from Pune to Bangalore by flight. This was my first
flight experience.
There were plasma screens of arrival and departure times on the wall of the
airport. People were lined up at the check in desk with suitcases and baggage. In
the background soft classical music played.
We got our tickets and then had the security check. The flight was on time and
luckily i got the window seat the child in me was so happy. Within a few seconds
we were high, up in the sky. The view was breath-taking. The roads seemed like
bright lighted lines, the houses and cars seemed like toys. The actual city looked
like a toy model of a city. It felt flying like a bird in the sky. Time just flew and very
soon we landed at Bangalore. It was one of the most memorable experience of
my life!

Hospital

A hospital has several wards. It has a large number of doors, windows and
ventilators. The rooms are full of good articles of furniture. The surroundings of
the hospital are quite neat and clean. Each ward has a garden in front of it. It adds
to the beauty of the hospital. All the wards are neat and clean.
There is special hall called operation theatre. No one except doctors and the
nurses is allowed to enter it. It is fitted with surgical instruments. There is perfect
silence in the ward. The atmosphere in the hospitals should be pleasant so the
patient can feel comfortable. The doctor visits the patients at morning in every
day. He goes to each bed. He enquires about the patient's difficulties. He asks
about their improvement. Then he prescribes the treatment. He encourages the
patient by his sweet talk and then goes away with a smiling face.

Earthquake

Earthquake is one of the dangerous and life threatening natural disaster which
can come anytime and anywhere on the earth. Stronger earthquakes generally
end up with huge and forced vibrations at long distance. It responsible for the
huge damage to the living and non-living beings. Earlier, it was quite hard to
imagine the intensity of the earthquake before its occurrence. However, now-a-
days, it has become easy to estimate the magnitude and intensity of earthquake
because of the instrumental advancement in the world. Everyone should take
care of them when earthquake occurs by following some precautions like:

 People should stay calm and stay inside or outside the door but away from
windows, buildings and power lines.
 Never use flammable things like matches, candles, or any other flame as
they caught fire with broken gas lines.
 If someone is in the running car, they must stop the car and stay inside until
the earthquake stops.

Hill station / Summer Vacation / Tourist Place

Ooty is one of the best hill stations in our country. She is called the Queen of Hill
Stations. We have been planning to go to the best place during our summer
vacation.
In contrast to the summer heat in our city, our trip to Ooty gave us a pleasant
feeling. This cold temperature and wonderful natural sceneries are the center of
attraction.
The whole environment of Ooty give us into happiness straight away. Boating in
the lake would be really fun filled. The most awesome part of Ooty is the
Botanical Garden. Thousands of flowers arranged in a mind blowing manner. The
best thing about Ooty is that we will happy in the company of nature. We can also
ride horses in Ooty. We felt comfortable with the food and accommodation. It’s
most memorable & joyful experience in my life. We took many photos in the most
amazing scenery spots and those are memorable till now.

Sunsets

Sunset is the time when the sun goes down and night begins. During the sunset,
nature assumes fresh, bright, and charming. The sun seems to be a disc of gold.
Then nature seems in a hurry. People finish their work and return home. Birds
return to their nests. The cowboys become busy with returning home with cattle.
When the sun sets, nature looks very beautiful. Then the nature starts getting
dark. The slight darkness of the sunset creates a feeling of joy in us. The beauty of
the sunset helps a poet to generate any ideas and compose poems.
Exhibition / Funfair
Last week I had visited to fun the fair exhibition. The specialty of the exhibition for
this year is that they built a replica of Taj Mahal and the entrance of the exhibition
was made impressive with a Maharaja Durbar. As we enter the exhibition, the
exhibition was alive with numerous people, light, music and sounds. People were
walking and the place was very crowded.
There were many stalls in which there were groceries, games, magic, stationer,
clothes and chats stalls. All the stalls were beautifully decorated.
First we went and took popcorn and we started to go to the stalls. The rates were
reasonable. We next climbed into the giant wheel and from the top of the giant
wheel we could see the whole exhibition. There we became little bit tired and
drank sugarcane juice.
Next we went to the room where there were so many types of mirrors and as we
observed from those mirrors that we look different in different mirrors such as
fat, thin and weird. Then we went to the chats section and ate pav bhaji. At last
we stood in front of the Taj Mahal and took the photo.
By the time we left the exhibition it was already 8.00 PM, we did not come to
know how we spent three hours and with few small things we returned home.
The exhibition was left a good impression in our mind and I feel to visit it once
again.

Cinema Hall

In our locality a new Cinema house had recently been opened. It was provided
with all comforts. Before reached the cinema hall, I had already booked my seat.
The interior of the hall dazzled me. The seats were superbly cushioned. The walls
were pleasingly decorated. The color-schemes relaxed the eyes. The hall was air-
conditioned; so there was a total absence of the usual stuffiness. The fluorescent
lighting arrangement had a pleasing moonlight effect that was smoothing to the
tired nerves. Slowly the audience filled the seats. In a short time the hall was full
to capacity. After sometime pass the bell rang and the curtain rose.
The two-hour illusion was soon over; but the magic spell remained. This movie
teach me lot of things.
For a while I felt myself shifted to another world.
Resort
It was my journey to a resort that captured my heart at first sight. It was totally a
fantastic place for picnic. It was filled of natural beauties. Its surroundings were
very beautiful. My journey to that resort was very wonderful. I enjoyed a lot
there.
We visited Lilly's Valley Resort. The climate was very good. That's how we
expected
The resort is so good: clean rooms, mountain-view rooms, friendly staffs, tasty
and healthy foods. Resort had wonder plants, flower. They arrange for cab along
with a kind-hearted driver who take us to all the places. They guide us in every
moment and ensure our safety. They gave us complimentary sandwiches, water
and chocolates for the train journey back. I would like to stay there again.

School

After a long period I visit my school again for admission of my nephew. And I feel
very happy after entering I saw there are much of new things are added like big
library, playgrounds, Digital classrooms, laboratories, clean drinking water area
and etc. After that I went to the office for further procedure & documentation of
admission. I saw there are all computerized manner work was going on. There are
one separately enquiry section where I got all information about form filling &
enclosures. After 15 min my nephew admission has complete.

Cricket
Of all the outdoor games, my most favorite is cricket. Cricket is played between
two teams of 11 players each, under set number of rules and regulations. The aim
of Cricket is to score more 'Runs' than the other team.
After the toss, players of one team goes for batting and the players of the other
team bowl in turn. Also, there are fielders who stop balls and return it. The game
may be of a One-day match or a Test-match or 20-20. There are two umpires
whose opinion and decision are to be accepted by the players of both the teams.
It is very interesting game.

Computer and Internet

Computer & internet is basic need of today’s life. There are several advantages &
disadvantage of Internet. Whether we are studying for a degree, chatting with
friends, sending off a job application or watching a video online, the internet news
is now updated more quickly than printed newspapers are. Using computer &
internet we can increase accuracy in our work & decrease manpower. But it has
also some disadvantages like Eye strain, the loss of traditional arts.

Festival

A festival is an occasion of enjoyment and celebration. Festivals are an important

part of our life. The major festivals are Dussehra, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Makar
Sankranti, Janmastami, Holi and many more. Every festival is teach us very much
things & gives lot of happiness. During festivals all family members are get
together again. Diwali is the most prominent of Hindu festivals. It is the festival of
lights. people wear new clothes. Sweets are distributed. Crackers are burst and
the children as well as the youth enjoy them.

Pollution
The major types of environmental pollution are air pollution, water pollution,
noise pollution, thermal pollution, soil pollution and light pollution.
Pollution is when something is added to the environment that is harmful or
poisonous to living things
The smoke emitted by vehicles using petrol and diesel and the cooking coal also
pollutes the environment. Further, the sounds produced by these vehicles
produces causes noise-pollution.
The improper disposal of industrial wastes are the sources of soil and water
pollution.
Household and commercial waste pollutes the environment when not disposed of
properly.
Environmental pollution is a serious problem of the industrialized societies.
Zoo

Last Sunday it was cloudy. I along with my friends visited the zoo. As we reached
near the main gate of the zoo, we saw a huge crowd. Some were buying entrance
tickets, some were gossiping and chatting other were relaxing under the shady
trees.

We entered to zoological garden and came across a beautiful lake in which some
water-birds like ducks were swimming. Seeing the white ducks on the smooth
surface of water is a charming sight. As we moved, we came to the enclosure in
which flying birds were kept. They ranged from sparrows, eagles and parrots to
pigeons of various colours. The birds were chirping. It was an enchanting music.
We enjoyed it very much.
In the next enclosure were kept-lions and leopards tigresses, whose roarings.
After seeing this, we came across a garden in which stags very smart and
beautiful. In one of the corners monkeys were jumping. Their tricks and pranks
were very pleasing. Some people threw food grains to them and they immediately
jumped down the trees in order to eat them. Some children were making faces at
them.
Importance of Education

Education has many benefits and has positive impact in our life. An educated
person is an asset for any country. The main purpose of education is to help
students gain the knowledge and skills so that they will be able to function in
society. It develops confidence and helps building personality of a person. School
education plays a great role in everyone’s life. The whole education has been
divided into three divisions such as the primary education, secondary education
and Higher Secondary education. Primary education prepares the base which
helps throughout the life, secondary education prepares the path for further
study and higher secondary education prepares the ultimate path of the future
and whole life. Our good or bad education decides that which type of person we
would in the future.
My favorite book novel mrityunjay

After reading mrityunjay book, my love for the character of Karna has been
reaffirmed. I learned about many little known incidents in his life and how each
incident guided and shaped his future actions. The book has captured Karna’s
feelings, his pain & sufferings, his courage & character really well. The book is
divided into sections with each section dedicated to an imp character in Karna’s
life. Each character is telling things as first person.
All in all, it is an awesome book which has been very beautifully written. A must
read for sure
