Additional Exams Material List International
Additional Exams Material List International
The ‘Additional Materials’ section on the front covers of question papers will say: ‘You will need:’. This will
list what the candidate needs and will include items we provide such as an answer booklet, an insert or a
map. It will also include the extra exam materials that you need to provide to the candidate in addition to
the standard materials that all candidates need.
Calculators are no longer listed in this document as additional exam materials for mathematics components.
See ‘Materials candidates must provide’ below.
It is essential that you make sure that candidates do not bring any unauthorised materials into the exam
room. See section 5.1.7 of the Cambridge Handbook for further guidance on this.
Dictionaries
Electronic dictionaries are not allowed in any exam. This includes tablets and e-readers.
Rough paper
• Candidates should do any rough work on the question paper, or the answer booklet if provided, and
cross through it neatly so it can be seen. You are allowed to provide candidates with additional
rough paper if there is limited space on the question paper to do their rough work. If candidates
have used additional rough paper, you should ask them to cross through the rough work neatly and
to hand it in with their answer scripts.
Set text
• If the entry for a specific paper says: ‘Unannotated set texts allowed in exam’, this means that
candidates may take unannotated set texts into the examination room. These texts must not have
been written in or marked in any way; there must be no personal annotation, highlighting or
underlining. Where any Editors’ Notes appear at the beginning or end of a set text, these must be
separated off with an elastic band.
