Phoenix
Asako Mazumi - Clan
Champion
Elemental Master of Void - Clan Champion -
Soul of Naka Kuro - Nineteen years ago the
seers of the Phoenix Clan witnessed an
alignment in the heavens the likes of which
had not been seen in centuries. It was
obvious that a ancient and powerful soul was
about to be reborn. As they watched a star
fell from the sky and crossed four of the stars
in the alignment. The seers followed the
shooting star and found a child born in Shiba
from an outcast of the Asako. He was taken
from his mother in secret and raised by
monks. He showed knowledge and power
far beyond his age, but he feared his own
power for he knew that with a single thought
he could unmake anything that troubled
Â
him. For this reason he ostracized himself
from the world, seeing only the monks of his
monastery, and those of the Elemental
Masters. Upon the death of the Elemental
Master of Void due to the plague Mazumi
was approached by the other Masters and
offered the position. He begrudgedly
accepted the post as he had foreseen that time
long ago. At sixteen he was by far the
youngest Elemental Master, though by far the
wisest. It was he that urged Murasame to
take the reigns of leadership of the clan, for
he had foreseen what was coming. Now,
though, the tides have turned and the Masters
look to him to fill the void left by
Murasame. Once again the young boy
begrudgedly accepts the position knowing
that only he can help his clan survive the
coming onslaught of the Gaijin and
Shadowlands.
Shiba Yobei
Yobei is by far the most experienced Tatsujin
Yojimbo that the Shiba have to offer their
Elemental Masters. He was a Tatsujin
Yojimbo long before the other current
Tatsujin Yojimbo had their gempukku. At
his induction into the Tatsujin Yojimbo he
shaved his head bare. As it grew he dyed it
the brightest yellow, then followed with
orange and red on the second and fifth
anniversary of his induction. Now his hair
has grown to his waist and the original dying
is all but gone. Though he would never
admit it Yobei is by far one of the greatest
swordsmen in the empire, arguably better
than most that have come out of the Dragon
or Crane dueling schools. Yobei has
guarded Asako Mazumi since his birth, when
the stars aligned and retold of the rebirth of a
great soul. Unfortunately since Mazumi has
all but ostracized himself from the outside
world to remain pure, Yobei has atrophied in
many areas, though not his duties to his
master.
Isawa Anzai
A young brash Isawa, interested in
knowledge and power. Anzai has always been
superior to her piers and looking for respect
and admiration from her superiors. She is
always the first to try new spells and to do so
in a manner that is shows off her talents with
little forethought to the situations that might
arise because of it. This sometimes gets her in
trouble, but the kami must be watching over
her, as she always manages to find a way out
of trouble.
Isawa Yasukaza
Yasukaza is the only surviving pupil of
Murasame. One of the few people who knew
him before his discovery of the treatment of
the Gaijin Plague. He has taken up
Murasame's position as weaponsmith and his
craftsmanship is known throughout the
Phoenix lands.
Hida Ken
Hida Ken is not your typical mercenary. A
Crab Berserker, he can have a devastating
effect on the battlefield as his rage fuels him
to superhuman levels of strength and stamina.
Off the battlefield, however, Ken is good
natured and somewhat simple. He has a
strong sense of honesty and his own type of
honor, which often doesn’t mesh with the
code of bushido and gets him into trouble. An
old friend of Murasame, he experienced some
trauma that drove him from the Crab Clan.
He wanted to help where he was needed, and
Omanu convinced him that Ryoko Owari was
the place to meet people who needed his
services. He was quite happy to see that his
old friend was now Champion of the Phoenix
Clan, and thus joined him (after Murasame
put in the highest bid).
