DEFINITION OF TERMS:

• The male reproductive system is the system of organs in a male body that
are responsible for sexual function, urination, and producing sperm and
semen.

• Male reproductive system includes the external organs ( penis, scrotum,


testes and the epididymis ). And the internal organs including ( Vas
deferens, urethra, seminal vesicle, prostate gland, and the bulbourethral ).

Bulbourethral Gland
The organs of the male reproductive system are
specialized for three primary functions:

• To produce, maintain, transport, and nourish sperm (the


male reproductive system cells) and protective fluid (semen)

• To discharge sperm within the female reproductive tract.

• To produce and secrete male sex hormones.


Penis
The glans is also called the head of the penis, is
covered with a loose layer of skin called foreskin

Penis
This the loose pouch-like sac of skin that hangs behind and below
the penis. It contains the testicles (also called testes), as well as many
nerves and blood vessels.

The scrotum acts as a "climate control system" for the testes.

• These are oval organs about the size of large
olives that lie in the scrotum.
Seminiferous Tubules • These tubes are responsible for
producing sperm cells.
• The epididymis a long, coiled that rests
on the backside of each testicle.

Vas deferens

The vas deferens is a


long, muscular tube that
transport mature sperm
to the urethra in
preparation for
ejaculation.
• The urethra serves a
dual function in males.
This channel is the
part of the urinary
tract that transports
urine from the bladder
and the part of the
Urethra reproductive system
through which semen
is ejaculated.
Seminal Vesicle

• This are sac-like pouches


that attach to the vas
deferens near the base of the
bladder.
Prostate Gland

The prostate gland is located


just below bladder in men and
surrounds the top portion of
the tube that drain urines from
the bladder (Urethra)
• Also called cowper's
gland, are pea-sized
structures located just
below the prostate
gland. These glands
produce a clear,
slippery fluid that
empties directly into
the urethra
