‘ON’ Check F1 Fuse of 25 Amps. It may be blown. Replace the fuse if it
is blown.
Check the input supply at Terminal TS1-12 & TS1-11. It should be
230 V AC. If supply is not available at above terminals then wire
may be open between mains socket to Input terminals of control.
Switch off the machine from mains and then check the MCB, it
should show continuity between its terminals during ON position.
If MCB is not showing continuity then replace the MCB.
Check OFF Switch. It should show continuity between its contacts.
If multimeter does not show continuity then replace the switch.
Check the 230 V AC at the input of On/Off transformer.
Check the output of ON/OFF transformer at input terminals of
rectifier. It should be 24 Volts AC. If output is not available then
replace the transformer.
Check the output of rectifier at On/Off Relay coil terminals. It
should be 24 V DC. If output is not available then replace the
rectifier PCB.
Check the On/Off Relay 3 NO/NC 10 A whether it is getting
energized or not. If relay is not getting energized then relay coil
may be faulty i.e. open. Replace the relay.
Check the ON/OFF Relay’s C contact in series with primary
winding of Booster transformer. It should show continuity when
checked with multimeter by pressing the contacts manually. If
multimeter is not showing continuity then replace the Relay (Coil
may be OK but contacts are faulty).
Check continuity of Booster Transformer’s Primary winding. It
should show continuity. If multimeter is not showing continuity
then primary winding wire may be open. Replace the Booster
transformer.
Check the continuity of voltage compensator switch contacts of
both fine and coarse compensators. Contact may be open. If
contact is open then first clean the contact surface with sandpaper
and check continuity. If contact is still open then replace the

2 Fuse F1 blowing off Tube head may be faulty and drawing heavy current. P1-P2 current
(F1 is the Mains fuseshould draw maximum 33 Amps. When checked with Tong Tester
of 25 Amp.) at full load i.e. 100 mA station. This fault will only occur during
exposure.
mA meter may be faulty i.e. showing less mA at the time of
calibrating the machine. This can only happen at 100 mA station.
LINE & NEUTRAL on ON/OFF Relay may be short with each
other. Contacts of On/Off Relay may be short inside the relay.
3 Fuse F2 blowing off Filament supply i.e. F1 & F2 wires may be touching with ground
(F2 is Filament or short with each other.
supply fuse of 4
Amp.)
4 Fuse F3 blowing off Timer Card defective i.e. any component in timer card i.e.
(F3 is regulator, diode etc is short.
Overload/Timer fuse
of 2 Amp.)
5 Fuse F4 blowing off LBD supply wires may be short. Check the connector also for any
(F4 is shorting of wires.
LBD/Collimator fuse Check for shorting of LBD supply wires with grounding due to
of 4 Amp.) cracks or cuts.
6 Machine showing Check F3 Fuse. It may be blown off.
continuous overload Check whether Relay RE1 is getting energized or not. Check
whether 24 V DC is available at Relay coil terminals or not. If
supply is available and relay is not getting energized then relay
may be defective.
If supply is not available at relay coil terminals then Timer card
may be defective.
If Timer card is OK then, check for 24 V AC at TTS 3 & TTS 4
terminals of terminal strip TTS.

8 Machine not (i) Check filament supply between TS1-1 (F1) & TS1-2 (F2). It
exposing on any mA should be approximately 150 V AC and on pressing ready
station switch voltage should boost by 50 + 10 volts. If filament supply
is not available at above terminals then:
a) Fuse F2 may be blown.
b) F2 wire from Booster resistance may be disconnected.
c) Common band of filament resistance of 750 Ohms may be
dry soldered or open.
d) Check common wires of all decks of Technic selector for
proper connection
e) Check voltage at tap no. 23 w.r.t. to ground of Auto
transformer. It should be 230 V AC. If voltage is not
available then Auto transformer winding may be open.
(ii) If filament supply is available at Terminal strips TS1-1 w.r.t
TS1-2 then check filaments physically for glowing in the tube.
At 25 mA, 50 mA and 100 mA stations, filament should glow.

(iii) If filament is not glowing then:

(a) Check filament voltage between F1 & F2 at terminals on
Tube Head. If supply is available at above terminals then
follow next step otherwise check wiring between Control
and Tube Head. F1 or F2 wire may be broken.
(b) Either Filament transformer may be faulty inside tube
head or Filament may be open inside tube. Replace the
tube head.
Check P1-P2 voltage during exposure at terminals TS1-6 & TS1-5.
If P1-P2 voltage is not available then:

(i) Check that whether P2 wire is connected properly at contact A

of technic selector relays RE25, RE50 & RE100.
(ii) Check RE5 coil supply at its terminals. It should be 24 V DC.
If supply is available then check whether RE5 is getting
energized or not. If it is not energized then replace Relay RE5
(SSR 50A).
(iii) If supply is not available at coil terminals then check RE4A
contact of relay RE4. If RE4 is not getting energized then
timer card may be faulty.
(iv) Check wire at tap no. 25 of Autotransformer. It may be open.

(v) Check 0 V supply from TTS3-4 to RE5 coil.

(vi) If RE5 contacts are working properly and P1-P2 voltage is not
coming then, check common point of KVP switch. It may be
disconnected.
(vii) Check whether technic selector relays RE25, RE50 and
RE100 are getting energized or not. If they are not energized
then check common point of technic selector for proper
connection.

If P1-P2 is available at Tube Head and exposure is not taking

place, then replace the tube head, as H.V. Transformer or Rectifier
diode may be faulty inside tube head.
9 No exposure on Check the Tech Selector relay for that particular station on which
particular mA station exposure does not take place.
Also check the contact of that particular technic selector relay.
If filament supply is not available on a particular mA station, check
the respective band and the contact on filament resistance for
proper connection.
Check the wires on Tech Selector switch pole, which is used for
filament supply selection for proper connection.
10 mA meter Tube may be gassey. To check this, remove F2 from Tube Head
overshooting and make exposure at 50mA/50 KVP. If blue light is visible in tube
then tube is gassey.
Tube head may be defective. Some connection in Tube head may
be short from inside.
mA meter may be defective. To check this, make exposure at 55
KVP & 50 mA. Measure P1-P2 current. It should be around 17
Amperes. If current is around 17 Amps on tong tester then mA
meter is defective.
11 MCB 16 Amp. Calibration may be wrong if machine is delivering more mA than
Tripping specified at full load.
continuously mA meter may have error.
Tube head may be drawing high current.
MCB may be defective. Check if MCB is tripping under normal
conditions also.
12 Voltage drop is more Under normal calibration conditions voltage drop should not
than specified limit exceed 10% of the available voltage at full load. If voltage drop is
more then check the wires used for supply to machine These
should be of appropriate gauge. Also check the Line Resistance.
It should not be more than 0.4 Ω as per Indian Electricity
Distribution Rules. More the line resistance more will be the
voltage drop.
