Participate and Assist

After you have written your lesson plan, confer with your Resource Teacher on how you can
participate / assist in delivering instruction in one of his/her classes. The Robert Gagne's Nine Events of
Instruction, will guide you to implement the various steps well.

Complete the given matrix by using Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction, once a lesson is assigned to you.
Consult your Resource Teacher if your plans are ready for implementation or your assistance is needed
in any part of the lesson.

Using Robert Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction, what did you notice in the following segments of
learning:

How did the students react to the activities/ various elements to arouse their interest?
Ans: The students were engaged and showed enthusiasm during the warm-up activities. They actively
participated in cutting pictures and gluing them, which indicated their interest in the topic.

Were the students focused when you were stating the learning objectives at the beginning of the
lesson?

Ans: Yes, the students were attentive and focused when the learning objectives were stated at the
beginning of the lesson. They understood the purpose of the lesson and what they were expected to
learn.

How did the new learnings relate with what they really know?

Ans: The new learnings were presented in a way that built upon the students' prior knowledge. The
content was structured from easy to more complex, allowing the students to make connections with
what they already knew.

Did you notice some students who needed assistance? What did you do?

Ans: Yes, there were a few students who needed assistance. I provided individual support by explaining
the concepts again, offering additional examples, and guiding them through the practice activities.

Did the students find difficulty in applying the theories/concepts learned to real life?

Ans: Some students found it challenging to apply the theories/concepts learned to real-life situations. To
address this, I provided real-life examples and engaged them in discussions to help them make
connections between the concepts and their everyday experiences.

How did your students react to your feedback?

Ans: The students were receptive to the feedback provided. They appreciated the specific feedback on
their performance and actively used it to improve their understanding and skills.

What pieces of evidence can prove that the students had retention of learning?

Ans: Evidence of retention of learning can be observed through the students' ability to apply the
concepts in practice activities or assessments. Their active participation in discussions and their ability to
explain and discuss the learned content also indicate retention of learning.

After planning your lesson(s) you may be requested by your Resource Teacher to deliver the lesson(s).
Your Resource Teacher will use a classroom observation sheet to evaluate the delivery of your lesson (s)
Schools use different tools in rating classroom/ online observations. Below is an example of a classroom
observation form/sheet.

Based on the areas of strength and areas of improvement identified, the overall impression of teaching
effectiveness for the English teacher is positive. The teacher demonstrates strengths in utilizing relevant
teaching methods/strategies, employing cooperative/group involvement, using clear and appropriate
examples, staying focused on learning outcomes, and exhibiting sensitivity to students' needs.

Areas of improvement include incorporating a wider variety of learning aids, materials, and technology,
effectively maintaining discipline and control in the classroom, expanding knowledge of diverse needs,
and actively overseeing the physical aspects of the classroom.

With continued growth and development in these areas of improvement, the teacher has the potential
to further enhance their teaching effectiveness and create an even more engaging and supportive
learning environment for students.

Ans: During my lessons, I encountered challenges in maintaining student engagement and attention.

Some strategies/solutions/means that I can employ to improve these situations/ problems


Ans: To improve student engagement and understanding, I plan to incorporate a variety of instructional
strategies and resources. This includes using multimedia materials, hands-on activities, and real-world
examples to connect the lessons to students' lives. I will also provide more opportunities for student
collaboration and discussion, allowing them to actively participate and share their ideas. Additionally, I
will implement formative assessments to gauge student comprehension and provide timely feedback to
address any misconceptions.
