Anatomage Table 11 Student Introduction Activity

What is the Anatomage Table?


The Anatomage Table is a resource for learning about human anatomy, physiology, disease, and more. It
has multiple cadavers, which are 3D, digital reconstructions of actual people who donated their bodies to
science. You can explore these cadavers to learn about the different parts of the human body.

What is this activity for?


This activity will take you through some basic functions of the Anatomage Table, so that you know how to
navigate it to see different body parts.

Part 1: Opening a Cadaver

Step 1: Open the Table Application

Step 2: Select “Cadavers” from the main menu to view the 5 available cadavers.
● Victor: Asian Male Age 33 Cause of Death: Pneumonia (Leukemia)
● Vicky: Asian Female Age 26 Cause of Death: Pneumonia (Gastric Cancer)
● Hans: Asian Male Age 70 Cause of Death: Lung Cancer
● Carl: Caucasian Male Age 38 Cause of Death: Lethal Injection
● Carla: Caucasian Female Age 59 Cause of Death: Heart Attack

Step 3: Select Victor, then tap “Open” to load the cadaver.

Part 2: Moving the Cadaver


Step 1: To rotate the cadaver, drag one finger anywhere on the screen.

Step 2: To move the cadaver, drag two fingers anywhere on the screen.

Step 3: To zoom in and out, pinch two fingers anywhere on the screen.

Step 4: To reset the cadaver back to the original location, choose the volume orientation icon , and

pick the anterior orientation . Tap the same icon again to flip to the posterior orientation.

Experiment with the other orientation options as well .

Part 3: Clipping the Cadaver


Step 1: Return the cadaver to the anterior position.

Step 2: Tap the clipping tool to open the clipping options.

Step 3: Select one of the three premade clipping planes to clip the cadaver.
Step 4: Use the slider bar right next to the clipping tool to adjust the plane.

Step 5: Reopen the clipping menu and tap the undo button to remove the plane.

Step 6: Reopen the clipping menu. It will be on custom clip by default . Without clicking any
buttons, drag one finger on the screen to draw a line you want to clip on. Then tap the side of the line you
would like to disappear.

Step 7: Undo the clipping plane (see Step 5).

Part 4: Exploring Layers of the Body


Step 1: Return the cadaver to the anterior position.

Step 2: Use the top slider bar to remove layers of the body. Slowly pull the top slider bar to the left to
reveal muscle layers, organs, and bones.

Step 3: Stop at multiple different slider bar points and tap on structures to learn their names. Record the
names of 5 different body parts you found below:

Step 4: Pull the top slider bar all the way to the left. Note that some structures still remain.

Step 5: Adjust the bottom slider bar to add and remove branched structures (heart, arteries, veins,
nerves, and lymphatic branches)

Part 5: Customizing the Cadaver


Step 1: Use the two slider bars to create a view of just the bones of the body. To do this, drag the bottom
slider bar all the way to the left. Then, adjust the top slider bar until you only see bones. Your image
should look like this:
Step 2: Tap on a bone to select it. Then, tap the Action Menu icon to open up the customization
features for that bone . (You can also open this menu by double-tapping on the bone)

Step 3: Tap the check mark to make the bone disappear. Tap it again to make it return.

Step 4: Tap the transparency tool to make the bone see-through. Tap it again to make it opaque.

Step 5: Tap the flat color tool (specifically the arrow) to change the color of the bone. Tap the flat
color tool again to return the bone to normal color.

Step 6: Tap the labeling tool to cause a label to come on for the bone. Tap it again to remove the
label.

Part 6: Practice
Step 1: Use the tools you have learned so far to try and re-create this image. When you’re done, take a

screenshot , and save it under your name on the desktop.
