Blockchain Rev1

The document discusses the challenges of traditional centralized skill verification systems, including trust issues, inefficiencies, lack of control, inconsistencies, and difficulties in recognizing non-traditional learning. It proposes a decentralized solution using blockchain technology and smart contracts to automate skill verification, enhance transparency, and provide individuals with ownership of their credentials. The literature survey highlights various blockchain-based systems that improve skill verification processes and address the identified issues.

DECENTRALISED SKILL VERIFICATION SURYA M U 21BCE1903

SYSTEM 21BCE1358

INTRODUCTION
PROBLEM STATEMENT ( CURRENT SCENARIO )
•Centralization and Trust Issues: Traditional skill verification systems are often centralized, relying on
educational institutions, certification bodies, and employers to validate skills and qualifications.
This centralization creates a single point of failure, making these systems vulnerable to data breaches,
manipulation, and fraud. The trustworthiness of the credentials is often questioned,
especially in cases where the verification process lacks transparency.

•Inefficiency and Delays: The process of verifying credentials can be slow and cumbersome,
requiring multiple layers of verification, manual checks, and administrative overhead. This inefficiency not only delays
hiring processes but also hinders professionals from
quickly showcasing their verified skills in a competitive job market.

•Lack of Ownership and Control: Individuals often have limited control over their own credentials.
Once a skill or qualification is issued by an institution, it resides within that institution's centralized database,
leaving individuals dependent on third parties to verify their credentials.
This lack of ownership can be problematic, especially when individuals move across borders or switch industries.

•Inconsistencies and Lack of Standardization: The verification process varies widely across different institutions
and industries, leading to inconsistencies in how skills and qualifications are recognized.
This lack of standardization makes it difficult for employers to compare credentials from different sources, further complicating the
hiring process.

•Difficulty in Verifying Informal or Non-Traditional Learning: Many professionals acquire

valuable skills through informal or non-traditional learning pathways, such as online courses, workshops, or self-study.
Traditional verification systems often fail to recognize these skills, leaving a gap in the credentialing process.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
We want to implement a decentralized architecture that gets rid of the user’s delayed, and
dependant approach.
Using smart contracts we will be able to automate the verification process of a person’s skill
and skill level immediately and a digital verifiable certificate is issued to the candidate,
stored in a blockchain supposedly.
We can partner with educational institutions to tie up with their model of study and skills, and
model our skill assessment tests to match their levels so that they would provi
