Welcome to the Datathon Competition 2023, organized by the International Business Engineering (IBE)
Program at Petra Christian University. As one of Indonesia's most prestigious business engineering
programs, IBE aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to become leaders in business
analytics and intelligence.
The Datathon Competition 2023 is the most exciting global analytics competition of the year! We
provide a platform and competitive atmosphere while you bring innovation and creativity. And this year,
we're taking it up a notch by collaborating with the leading business intelligence company,
MicroStrategy!
For this year's Datathon Competition, we want you to make full use of MicroStrategy's modern stack. So
we're challenging you to build and publish your dossier exclusively using MicroStrategy Workstation &
Library. And the best part? You are offered six different datasets for you to choose from and you may
combine them with your datasets if you want! That's right; any dataset is fair game; the more creative
your analysis, the better! In addition, you'll also receive exclusive access to MicroStrategy's online
training program. By acing the test, you'll unlock the opportunity to earn a coveted MicroStrategy
Analyst Certification.
We have upped the ante this year, with a total prize of Rp25.000.000,00 up for grabs, so bring your
A-game. Following the guidelines below, creatively share the story of the data and show us what you've
got!
So what are you waiting for? Join us in the MSTR – IBE Datathon Competition 2023 and take your data
analysis skills to the next level. Let's make this year's competition one for the books!
To compete in the Datathon, you'll be submitting two deliverables for evaluation: a file to your dossier
in MicroStrategy and a link to a demo video. But this is no ordinary dossier - we're challenging you to
use MicroStrategy Workstation to create a cutting-edge, modern stack dossier that will blow us away.
Don't worry, we'll provide you with all the guidelines you need to make sure your dossier is top-notch.
1. Dossier — A dossier is a collection of reports, charts, and other visualizations that are used
to present data in a comprehensive and user-friendly format. In the context of the Datathon
Competition, a dossier refers to a data analysis project created using MicroStrategy
Workstation.
A dossier typically includes a wide range of data visualizations, such as bar charts, line
graphs, and scatter plots. It can also include tables, maps, and other interactive elements
that allow users to explore the data in different ways. The goal of a dossier is to provide a
clear and concise view of the data and to help users draw insights and make informed
decisions based on that data.
It's essential to comply with the guidelines. Following these guidelines will lead to better outcomes and
opportunities for learning, making it easier for others to review and evaluate your work. So, take the time
to review and understand the guidelines provided to create a successful and impactful project.
3. Demo Video — Please create a short video that demonstrates all the components of your
project. The video should cover your complete MicroStrategy user experience and feature.
You have the challenge to showcase your dossier and the optional end-to-end
MicroStrategy experience within five to ten minutes. Please make sure that your video is
engaging yet precise, and it should not exceed ten minutes in length. The evaluations will
be primarily based on the video you submit. Note that the video must display only the
modern stack of interface products: Workstation, Library, or Hyper. Please do not
demonstrate Web or Developer in your presentation.

winners will be announced at the event.
All submissions must comply with the aforementioned requirements and will be evaluated based on
three primary criteria: use of data, product utilization, and innovation.
1. ANALYSIS GOALS
The analysis goals involve enabling users to specify the business inquiries they wish to
address with the Dosier visualization, emphasizing the appropriate use of data and
visualization.
2. DOSSIER FEATURES
The Dosier features assessed include the range of visualizations used, the total number of
distinct features employed, advanced filtering, page-to-page targeting, thresholds and
linking features, title and container formatting and design, and other Dosier capabilities
displayed.
Creativity and innovation will be measured based on the ability to generate original insights
from data or additional data, and creatively present the dashboard's chapters, pages, and
navigation, incorporating visual elements, color schemes, and additional text, such as
images, videos, or web links, and highlighting any other capabilities, such as integration
with AI/ML.
4. BUSINESS VALUE
Lastly, applicants will be required to articulate a business value proposition for their
submission, outlining how it will impact business users positively.
