Reason (R). Select the correct answer to these questions from the options as given below.
a) If both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is correct explanation of Assertion.
b) If both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.
c) If Assertion is true but Reason is false.
d) If Assertion is false but Reason is true
13. Assertion: In projectile motion, the angle between the instantaneous velocity and 1
acceleration at the highest point is 180°.
Reason: At the highest point, velocity of projectile will be in horizontal direction only.
14. Assertion : If earth suddenly stops rotating about its axis, then the value of acceleration due to gravity 1
will become same at all the places.
Reason : The value of acceleration due to gravity depends upon the rotation of the earth.
15. Assertion: A man rowing a boat upstream is at rest with respect to the bank. He is doing no external 1
work.
Reason : Work done by constant force, W = F s cos θ
16. Assertion: A body becomes massless at the centre of earth. 1
Reason : This follows from g’ = g (1 – d/R)

29. Read the passage given below and answer the following questions:
The time rate of change of position of the object in any direction is called speed of the object If an
object covers equal distances in equal intervals of time, then its speed is called uniform speed andifit
covers unequal distances in equal intervals of time, then its speed is called nonuniform or variable
speed. The ratio of the total distance travelled by the object to the total time taken is called average
speed of the object. The speed may be positive or zero but never negative. The speed-time graph of a
particle moving along a fixed direction is shown in following Fig.
