text. 1. Briefly describe the main characters of the story.

The story has 4 characters: a man, his wife and two black

cats.

The man at first of the story was a kind and lovely person,

but, he was changing because he turned in a evil person

and one alcoholic man

His wife was a woman who loved the animals, and, the

story didn’t say more about her, but she seemed a kind

person.

The story has two black cat, the first was Pluto, one friendly

cat who loved his owner

The seccond cat, we didn’t know his name, the story don’t

tell us, but, he didn’t was fully black, he has a white shape

in his chest, and, as the first, he was a friendly cat who

loved his owner

2. Describe the setting.

The story happened in the XIX century, in the United

States.
3. Where is the narrator as he writes this story?

In the day after his death, in prision

4. What crime did the narrator commit?

He killed his wife

5. Is he remorseful for his crime? Why or why not? What makes you think
this?

I think he is remorseful of the crime because he accuse to the cat for this
crime and because his wife was a lovely woman and he loved her

6. Why is this story considered a flashback?

This story is considered a flashback because it is a most frightening story of a


frightening writer.

7. Explain why the narrator was caught by the police?


The narrator was caught by the police because they searched his home and
when they went down the stairs, in the cellar, they heard one sound inside
the wall, the cat’s scream, then they removed the plaster and they
discovered the wife's body.

8. Compare the two cats in the story:

The narrator describe himself like a kind and lovely preson at first, and after,
like a very bad person because he turned an alcoholic man

The narrator behave like a evil person, he was a cruel with animals specially
with his cat Pluto and committed the murder of his wife

11. On what does the narrator blame his behavior?


The narrator blames his behavior to the alcohol

his actual behavior? Does this make him a reliable narrator? Why or why
not? Explain your thoughts thoroughly.

I think the narrator is a reliable narrator, because, he didn’t unknew the evil in
his actions, but he couldn’t stop, and he felt remorseful

14. What connections can you make with the story and Poe’s own personal
life?

Well, I can make some connection between the Poe’s life and the narrator:

Both are alcoholics

Both are poor

The wife of both was died (but Poe wasn´t kill his wife)

And the life of both were sad
