Section B (20 marks)

3. Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follows.
Have you ever been stung by a bee or wasp? If you have, I am sure that you will not easily forget it for both these insects
can sting sharply and cause much pain. Biting is their way of protecting themselves and a very splendid way it is too.
Can you tell the difference between a bee and a wasp? A Wasp has a longer and thinner body than a bee and more
brightly colored. Bees live in houses which have been made for them called hives. Wasps make nests in holes, in trees
in the ground and sometimes you may see a wasp nest hanging from a tree or from the edge of a roof.
It may strike you as being a lantern-not grey coloured, but made of grey paper. Where do the wasps obtain the paper?
You will be amazed to learn that each lantern is the work of a single wasp, a mother wasps or a queen wasp as she is
called. From the trunks, grass and logs she creeps tiny fragment of wood and chews and chews them until they become
like a paper.
It is out of this fine paper that this clever creature builds the home which she furnishes with cells. These are not used
for storing honey but to hold her eggs which will become young wasps which add other cells. Do wasps store honey?
You will guess the answer to this question when I tell you that almost all the wasps die of cold and hunger before cold
winds of winter begin to blow.
