A little bit about the role:


ORBCOMM’s Software Quality Assurance department is a high performing and highly motivated group
of professionals that prides itself on delivering results. The Software Quality Assurance team is currently
looking for an individual that possesses a team-oriented attitude, having solid communication skills, with
an attention to detail and the confidence to take ownership of broad tasks.

As an Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing
automated solutions to streamline our processes, increase efficiency, and optimize productivity. You will
collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities, design robust automation
frameworks, and execute end-to-end automation testing.

The individual should be self-motivated, creative, and proactive, to work successfully in a fast-paced
environment including multiple platforms and architectures, diverse technologies, and lab
environments. The individual will work closely with developers, project managers, network engineers
and other stakeholders throughout the SDLC and responsible in executing test iterations, tracking /
reporting results, troubleshooting and coordinating defect resolution. The individual should have a
strong understanding of SDLC processes and the QA lifecycle and methodology.

Responsibilities:
 Creating, enhancing, and maintaining and automation test cases and ensure compliance
with software specifications/requirements.
 Collaborate with team to improve overall product quality by emphasizing defect
prevention throughout the development process.
 Finding solutions for web object identification.
 Maintain a high degree of error free programs, procedures, systems, and
documentation on all software application releases.
 Anticipate potential software problems by creating exhaustive test scenarios that ensure
comprehensive testing.
 Document all testing results in conjunction with test plans.
 Identify and analyse defects/test results and be able to deduct the chain of events
leading to a failure.
 Creating bug tickets for any issues found via automated tests.
 Communicate critical issues and status updates in a timely manner.
Must-have Skills:
 A degree in computer science/software engineering/electrical engineering or
equivalent
 5+ years of experience in software test automation of mobile applications (Android &
iOS)
 Strong programming skills in Java
 A degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Electrical Engineering or
equivalent
 Hands on experience in using & developing automation frameworks.
 Proficiency in automation tools/frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, Appium, MS
Azure app service and related tech.
 Experience working with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) tools such as
Jenkins, Git, and JIRA
 Hands-on experience with API testing and automation tools like Postman or SoapUI.
 Familiarity with relational databases and ability to write SQL queries for data validation
and verification.
 Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience working in an Agile
development environment.
 Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-
functional teams across various time zones.
 Ability to prioritize work effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven
environment.
 Experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, OCI) and their automation
tools.
 Experience with source control (SVN, Visual Studio Team Foundation, Gitlab, etc.).

Nice-to-have Skills:
 Experience with Python
 Experience in the Satellite Communication industry or in the Telecommunication field.
 Experience with performance, load and benchmark testing.
 Familiarity working with Unix/Linux environments.
 Big data experience/knowledge.
