I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1. Identify the (5) five sensory imagery.
2. Learners will be able to figure out the sensory imagery used in a literary piece.
3. Learners will be capable to craft their own literary piece using sensory imagery.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. English Topic: Imagery

c. Values Integration: Appreciating the importance of using Imagery
d. Materials: laptop, Powerpoint presentation, chalkboard

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE

a. Routine Activities

The teacher will start the class with a short prayer, greetings, classroom management,
and checking of attendance.

b. Review

The teacher will ask the students about what they remember about the last discussion
that they had.

c. Motivation

Group Activity: The students will perform the “Picture it out!” activity. The teacher will
flash pictures, and then the students will write anything they perceive/think about
the pictures on a sheet of paper provided by the teacher. They will present their output in
class. Example: Picture of a Cake= happiness; surprise; sweetness, and etc.
d. Presentation of the Lesson

The teacher will ask the students the following questions “1. How did you find the
activity? 2. What did you notice on the pictures? 4. What are the similarities of the pictures?
5. Based on our activity what do you thing our topic for today?

e. Discussion Proper

Present the lesson on Imagery

The teacher explains and elaborate further about sensory images and its importance in
literature.

f. Generalization

The teacher will ask questions regarding the topic that they just discussed and talked about.
the students will answer these following questions “What is Imagery? What are the 5
Imagery that was discussed? What is the importance of imagery in Literature?

g. Application/Activity

Group Activity: The class will be grouped into two, they will receive a candy. Then, they will
describe the candy using the sensory details. They will write it on a sheet of paper and they
will choose a representative to present and share the output in class.

Relate your description of the candy to your life. Examples:

1. The sweetness of candy is as sweet as my babies’ kisses.

2. The sound of the wrapper reminds me of the giggling of my daughters.

Remember: Personalize or relate the description of the candy to your life.

Students will be guided with the following questions:

Touch: Describe how it feels in your mouth and/or on your fingers.

Tastes: Describe how it tastes

See: Describe the colour, pattern, shape, texture etc.

Smell: Describe how it smells.

Hear: Describe how the wrapper sounds or the sound sucking or biting of the cand
IV. EVALUATION

Write at least two to three paragraphs of poem using and incorporating all the imagery that
was discussed. 10 pts.

V. ASSIGNMENT

The teacher will let the students read the story “The Scarlet Ibis” by James Hurst” which
evokes sensory images. The students will get at least ten sentences that evokes sensory
images in the story and identify which sense these sentences appeal to.
