CHRISTMAS SCRIPT
- MARIYUM FATIMA (ANCHOR)
As rightly said by David Cameron, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, “Christmas gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the important things around us”. A very warm and cheerful morning to our Honorable Principal, Dr. Sr. M Rashmi AC, Patna Women’s College, our respected Vice Principal, Dr. Sr. M Tanisha AC, Patna Women’s College, teachers, students and to each and everyone present in this magnanimous hall today. I, Mariyum Fatima, feel immense gratitude to welcome you all to the much awaited time of the year, to the time of twinkling lights, radiant smiles, and hearts full of festive cheer, we finally made it to the Christmas year. Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, who is regarded as the creator and supreme spiritual authority of Christianity. For two millennia, people around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular. Worship is when one shows their gratitude towards the Almighty and what can be the best of a worship when it is performed through dance. Dance is one of the most beautiful and expressive form of art known to mankind. An excellent portrayal of emotions, it is globally present in almost every religion and culture. It is the award that one wants to demo to God. It comes out on its own as a quest, a search for the divine. With these words, let us now begin this stupendous program by seeking the presence of the Almighty through a prayer dance named, AADI MEIN THA. Thank you so much dancers for your mesmerizing performance. It was so graceful to watch your moves. All the months go past, Each is like a guest. December is the last, December is the best. Each month has lovely things, Each one’s the best But December brings, Christmas at the end. Moving forward, we now have a carol in line. A Christmas carol has a simple, straightforward message of kindness to which anyone can relate. It is a timeless tale, which underlined humankind’s attributes and encompasses the popular perception about Christmas, as a celebration of hope and generosity. I would now like to invite the choir up on stage to enchant us all with their melodious tunes. What a spellbinding performance it was. Thank you so much girls. Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love. Late upon a winters night, there became a wondrous sight The angel of the Lord shown around, to all amazed upon the ground. It led three kings to a stable, to a crib under a gable. Amongst the animals there stood by, they did witness a birth nearby. To John and Mary, a special son, the miracle of life was humbly done. The King of all Kings, born that day, that no man should feel dismay. For if he to believe, makes a sacrifice, after death his home will be eternal paradise. With these words, I now invite the actors up on stage to thrill us all with their amazing acting skills, the title of their act being, THE THIRTEENTH COOKIE. Thank you so much girls for your miraculous performance. You surely entertained us all with your amazing acting skills. Across a white December night, each home is filled with candle light. The moon shines brightly in a golden sky, stars are twinkling way up high. Dance, the first thing that comes to the mind is the spirit of happiness, colours and immense joy. Almost all dance forms convey this message. Dance is an important representation of culture and art in all societies. When it comes to Adivasi/indigenous communities, dance not only plays a central role in their identity formation but also in communicating their worldview. Among the Adivasi communities of India, dance is an inalienable part of their rituals, customs, and culture. It is not just cultural expressions of the community, but a reflection of their philosophy and more importantly, it is a repository of their collective knowledge and wisdom. With these words, I now invite the dancers up on stage for their exceptional Adivasi dance performance. Thank you so much girls for your performance. It indeed showed the true essence of the tribal life. May our hearts be lifted in praise this Christmas for the wonderful gift of Jesus and the joy He brings to our lives. Now, I invite the choir up on stage to lit the spirit of Christmas through their warble tunes. Well, now I am sure that the spirits of Christmas is up high at its fullest. Thank you so much participants for your sweet tunes. The golden Christmas stars shine down With a cheerful Christmas glow, And twinkle a Yuletide message to the busy world below, They tell of the peace and good will all should feel At this season of joy and mirth. Last but not the least, the most awaited act of the day is yet in line. Today, a king was born. Faith makes everything possible, hope makes things work, and love makes things beautiful. Christmas is the tenderness for the past, courage for the present and hope for the future. It is now time for the Grand Finale so gear up yourselves as the joy of Christmas has covered the corners. God’s greatest gift was sent to all He was born in a lowly manger stall The gift of Jesus to those who believe, is a gift of love and life for all. May I now invite our respected Principal, Dr Sr M Rashmi AC, Patna Women’s College, to share with us her precious words of wisdom. Thank you so much sister for your valuable inputs and for always being our pillar of support. I now invite Student Council, 2023-24 to conclude today’s program with the vote of thanks.
