Plan A Trip To Space

The Travel to Space Project involves creating a travel itinerary for a chosen planet in the solar system, excluding Earth and Pluto. Students must research various aspects of the planet, including its position, appearance, composition, gravity, atmosphere, temperature, and unique features, while also being creative in their presentation. The final product should persuade potential travelers to visit the selected planet by highlighting its attractions and activities.

Travel to Space Project

Purpose: In this unit, we will be covering the life cycle of stars, the planets in
our solar system, as well as comets, asteroids, and meteors. In this assignment,
you will act as a travel agent and organize a trip to one of our solar system's
magnificent planets (except Earth, and sorry, but also not baby Pluto). The travel
itinerary serves as a means of pursuing feature trips that your planet is the
greatest place for people to spend their money visiting. You will complete this by
using what you learnt throughout the unit, as well as some prior information. You
can create a powerpoint, google slides, canva, or paper to create a brochure (
with color ). Get to know your planet. Research as much information that you can
find. You will need at minimum three sources.Be sure to keep up with your sources
as you will need to create a work cited slide and/or page. But also be sure you are
creative in your thinking!

Part 1:
Creative title of the trip to your chosen planet, a descriptive phrase or saying
about your planet that will make someone come and visit, Include dates of
travel ( example 4 days 3 nights ) cited work slide and/or page and your name,
class and block.

Part 2:
Position in the Solar System: Where is the planet located in our solar
system? How long will it take to travel to that planet? What is the cost of
travel to that planet? How far from the sun is its orbit?
Orbit: How long does it take for it to orbit around the sun? Is the orbit
unusual? Or is the orbit unique?
Appearance of Planet: What does your planet look like? How big is your planet
in comparison to the other planets? What is the population of the planet? What
is the mass? How does the mass compare to other planets ( is it the biggest or
smallest )? Does your planet have moons? If so, how many? If moons are
orbiting your planet describe them and when they were discovered. Is there any
special features on your planet ( example earth is the only planet with liquid
water as its surface)?

Part 3:
Composition of the Planet: What type of planet is it ( is it rocky or a gas planet
)? What is its internal composition?
Gravity: What is the force of gravity at the surface of your planet? ( For
example, what would a 90-pound person weigh on the planet )
Atmosphere: What is the composition of the atmosphere ( is it thick or thin )? Is
it suitable for someone to take a trip to?
Temperature: What is the temperature range of the planet?
Part 4:
Is there something special about the planet? This is the most interesting part, be
creative! For example, are there frequent meteor showers? Are there 100-year
long storms? Or giant volcanoes that always erupt? Does the planet have a tilted
axis causing extreme weather? Have outside space crafts come to visit? If so,
what was discovered? Is your planet in orbit with another planet? Be Creative!

Part 5:
Explain why someone should visit this planet. What does this planet have to
offer that no other planet has? What will they be able to see or do ( create at
minimum 3 activities for someone to do on this planet, example zipline through
rovers on mars)? You might want to include what they need to be careful of, what
type of clothes to pack, equipment, etc. to bring. Remember your goal is to
pursue the travelers to visit your planet because it is the “Number One Travel
Destination in our Solar System”.
