4.4.1 Connection to the Weighing Electronics Unit

The connection to the measuring input of the evaluation electronics is made according to the drawings in the
respective manual.
All Schenck Process evaluation electronic units have a shield bus for connecting the outer shield. There the
outer shield is connected in a low-induction manner and with a large contact area using the terminals supp-
lied.
▪ Remove the outer sheath as shown in the diagram.

Fig. 14: Connecting the measuring cable to the screen clamp

Connect the cable screen and ensure strain relief

NOTICE
Leave the cable screen on up as far as the terminal and only remove the
cable sheathing at the screen support if the screen support for the connec-
ting terminal of the cable is further away.

1. Insert the cable tie for strain relief into the cutout (A).
2. Peel back approx. 10 mm of the screen.
3. Place the screen onto the support and tighten the cable tie (B).
4. Push in the screen clips. Take care that the contact spring touches the cable screen (C).
▪ The outer and inner shields are connected directly to one another at the measuring input.
▪ The cable is prepared for this as shown: the outer sheath and the silver filler wires of the inner sheath
are turn outwards. (If using a DISOMAT Tersus, first slip on the strain relief jacket.)

Fig. 16: Preparing the measuring cable

▪ Then the cable is clamped to the strain relief. The figure shows a DISOMAT Tersus, but the procedure
is the same for the DISOMAT Opus and DISOMAT Satus.

Standard System

Fig. 17: Connecting the inner and outer shields

▪ DISOBOX Plus: If a double-shielded extension cable is used, the inner and outer shields are connec-
ted directly to the screen clamp.
If sense or feed lines have redundancy in the measuring cable we recommend locating an extension cable in
the vicinity of the evaluation system. Then lay the lines for the remaining distance as single lines only.
Otherwise there may be very little room in the evaluation electronics unit for making further connections.
The following figure shows an example of a connected unit.

4.5 Dongle/Adjustment
The legal-for-trade parameters and the results of the adjustment are stored in the scales dongle. This spares
the need for re-adjustment if an alteration or a replacement has been made to the DISOMAT.

The adjustment data will be lost if the dongle is manipulated.

Fig. 19: VDO 20450 Dongle

Jumper Programming Plug Scales/Adjustment Mode:

1 Position WE: Adjustment mode

2 Position Wprot.: Scales mode (write protected)

Parameterization and adjustment are performed as follows:

1. Turn off the power.
2. Use a screwdriver to lever the device and the dongle housing open in a sideways movement.
3. Set the jumper in the dongle to 'WE'.
4. Perform the parameterization and adjustment as described in the operating manual.
5. Set the jumper in the dongle to 'Wprot'.
6. Clip back together the plastic housing components of the dongle.
7. Tape the calibration seal over the housing parting seam if a legal-for-trade has been performed.

Caution: Please observe the differences in procedure if operating the DISOMAT with a DISOBOX- or

5.1 Remote Keyboard

A PC keyboard (VTT 207xx) may be used to enter data more comfortably.
The remote keyboard labeling is the same as for the fixed DISOMAT keyboard. This allows a remote key-
board to be operated in the same manner as the fixed keyboard.
It is considerably easier to enter alphanumerical characters using the remote keyboard. The labels on IP65
membrane keyboards are printed directly into the keyboard.

Schenck Process Group - 23 -
Optional Expansions

The device used in explosion hazard areas is the 'mirror' device DISOMAT Tersus Ex VKG 20490.
3. Operating terminal DT

DT devices are now available as spare parts only. Their use in combination with a DISOMAT Tersus
is relevant mainly for repairs, retrofits or upgrades.

The DT operating terminal is a device developed by Schenck Process that can be controlled remotely. This
is particularly useful if the scales are located in an explosion hazard area (Ex area) and must be operated
from that area. All DISOMAT dialog functions can be called up on the DT terminal.
The DT is available in two housing variants:
▪ DT 20420 - Panel mount unit
▪ DT 20430 - Stainless steel wall-mounted device

Installation
1. Control panel type VOP 28000 - 28040
Power is supplied to the VOP either by an external 24 V power supply unit or directly by the DISOMAT au-
xiliary supply output for external devices:

Fig. 21: Connection VOP, X4 - 24 VDC, DISOMAT Tersus

The VOP can be directly connected via the DISOMAT Tersus serial interfaces S1 or S2.

Fig. 22: Connection VOP, X4 - RS485-2, DISOMAT Tersus

An Ethernet or a wireless connection can also be used.

▪ Details on the VOP and the configurations can be found in the VOP manual (BV-H2396)
and in the DISOMAT Tersus operating manual (BV-H2335)
▪ Details on the VOP 28090 ATEX model can be found in the manual BV-H2487

2. Second DISOMAT Tersus

If a DISOMAT Tersus us used as a second 'mirror' operating device it must be connected to interface S1 or
S2 (requires RS485-2-wire).
As with the main unit, this 'mirror' DISOMAT also has the housing variants and power supply options descri-
bed above.
Information on the interface parameterization can also be found in the operating manual.

3rd Operating terminal DT

DISOMAT interface S1 or S2 must be used if the operating terminal DT is used.
Refer to the wiring diagram in chapter for information on the connections and the power supply to the DT
operating terminal in a non explosion-hazard area. This requires an additional power supply. In the explo-
sion hazard area the power supply is equipped with a protective circuit as described in chapter .
The interface must be parameterized as follows:

▪ Baud rate: 9600

▪ Handshake: Off

▪ Data: 7bit even

▪ Stop bits: 1

▪ Physics: RS485-4-wire

Notes on operating the DT terminal can be found in the operating manual DISOMAT Tersus (BV-
H2335).

5.3 I/O Expansion Module

a) Normal inputs and outputs
A VEA0451 module will expand the DISOMAT by two analog inputs and outputs.
Both of the inputs and outputs have a common neutral line, i.e. they are in ohmic contact. The two groups
are electrically isolated from each other and from the rest of the system.

5.4 I/O Expansion Module ICP

If the quantity of internal I/O connections proves to be insufficient, the DISOMAT can be expanded by exter-
nal I/O modules. This is a module to be installed outside the DISOMAT on a top hat rail. A field housing for
the a high protection class is available for the module.

Functionality

The modules are connected to the DISOMAT in series and are supplied
with data via function blocks. A maximum of 3 modules with digital in-
puts/outputs, one analog output module and one analog input module
can be connected.
The analog output and the third I/O module exclude each other as they
both use the same address.

Caution!: The ICP7067 relay outputs can be supplied with a maximum of 0.5 A at 120 VAC!
The ICP module interface parameters are fixed: RS485, 9600 Baud, 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop bit (8-N-1).

STRICTLY OBSERVE
Do not invert the signal externally
Please do not use external circuits to invert this logic as then neither the
wire-break safety nor the further processing of signals in the DISOMAT will
function.

Unlike the internal DISOMAT input contacts that operate with a common neutral, the inputs of the ICP mo-
dules 7050 and 7063 operate with a common positive voltage. This is switched to zero to perform an input:

Fig. 25: ICP module wiring

This form of wiring means that voltage is present at the inputs with an open switch (logical LOW signal) and
that the control LEDs are lit. The entire signal chain is so designed that the device recognizes a logical HIGH
when the switch is activated and a LOW if the wire breaks.
Type 7055 modules have a conventional positive logic.

NOTICE
Communication fault
Nevertheless, communication errors can arise despite correctly connecting
the ICP module. In this case a bus termination of the kind shown below can
help. This wiring is recommended for all types. In this case, the passive bus
termination no longer applies.

5.5 High-Voltage Inputs

The binary inputs are designed for operation with 18 ... 36 VDC as standard. The supplementary module
VKE 20450 was developed for those applications which require high-voltage input operation - principally the
pendant control panels of crane scales. The module, with the dimensions of a DKK 69 distribution box, is
mounted near weighing terminal - e.g. in the field housing - and then wired to the weighing terminal 24 VDC
inputs.

5.6 Bluetooth
The DISOMAT can communicate wirelessly with an outstation via the Bluetooth module VBT 20450. The
device can either be equipped with this module in the factory or, as an optional expansion, it can be simply
plugged into slot D690 later (antenna connection downwards). Then the module must be activated in menu
item 438: Bluetooth.
The VBT 20450 is a class 1 module, i.e. it has a range of 100 m if it has visual contact with a class 1 outsta-
tion.

BV-H2334GB, V7 DISOMAT® Tersus, System Manual

- 38 - Schenck Process Group
Optional Expansions

The range is reduced to around 15 m for a class 2 outstation.

Note: Most USB-Bluetooth adapters for PCs are class 2 modules.
A typical range of around 15 m will also be reached (with a class 1 outstation) if fitting the DISOMAT into a
metal housing, e. g. a VFG field device. The VBT module leaves the factory configured for a DISOPLAN
connection (38,400 Baud, 8 bit, no parity). Proceed as follows if the parameters should have been altered or
if different parameters should be required:
▪ A connection will be established by a suitable partner to the VBT module using the AToverSPP profile.
(SPP = Serial Port Profile; serial data transmission)
▪ A terminal program (e.g. Hyperterminal) can now be used to configure the VBT module using AT
commands.
Note: The AT commands are entered without spaces.
▪ Command: AT+UART (query interface parameter)
Response: +UART=38400,1,0 (for 38,400 Baud, 8 bit, no parity)
▪ To set the parameter to the above mentioned values:
Command: AT+UART= 38400,1,0
If the Bluetooth modules are to be set for data transmission to a large display or a printer, two modules must
be operated as a pair (must be paired):
1. Contact both modules using the AToverSPP profile.
2. Open one terminal window per Bluetooth module.
3. Check the firmware version of both modules; it should be V1.10 (Dec. 2007) or newer:
Command: ATI 0
4. Set both modules to the same baud rate and the same data format (default: 38400 8-N-1):
Command: AT+UART=38400,1,0
5. Read out the Bluetooth-MACID at the Bluetooth slave:
Command: AT+LBDA?
6. Set automatic, cyclical connection establishment at the Bluetooth master:
Command: AT+ACM=2
7. Initiate the connection per AT command from the Bluetooth master and save the addresses of the re-
mote stations; this 'pairs' the two Bluetooth modules:
Command: AT+CONN=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx,0 (where xx.. = outstation address)
The external Bluetooth modules VBT 28xxx can be installed and configured as per the built-in module.
Details on these modules can be found in the manual BV-H2314.

5.7 Fieldbus
5.7.1 General Information
A process control system in the system controller communicates with the DISOMAT via fieldbus.
A fieldbus interface is a card that is plugged into the system board.
Certain fieldbus systems may have some restrictions, such as length of cable and bus termination. Please
refer to the technical specifications of the bus system used for further details.
To provide the optimum EMC interference resistance we recommend that you use cables that are specified
by the individual fieldbuses.
A list of accessories for the fieldbuses can be found in the chapter »Supplied and Replacement Parts [➙
69]«.

5.7.2 Installing a Fieldbus Module

Fig. 41: Fieldbus interface

Install the fieldbus card as follows:

▪ Physically disconnect the DISOMAT from the power supply.
▪ Open the housing.

Caution: If the bus card is fitted with configuration jumpers, these should be set before the card is
installed (for purposes of accessibility).

For VTG desktop and VKG stainless steel devices:

▪ Place three spacer bolts onto the mainboard. The bolts are contained in the circuit board assembly kit.
▪ The ribbon cable on the fieldbus card is plugged into the XFB plug connector on the system board.
Then affix the card with three screws. It can be secured most effectively by using the hexagon head
bolts supplied in the assembly kit rather than ordinary cross-head screws. Then they can be tightened
with a hexagon spanner.
▪ If both a fieldbus card and a VEO I/O expansion card are to be installed at the same time, the fieldbus
card should be located above the VEA.

For VEG built-in devices:

▪ The fieldbus card is screwed directly into the bottom plate. The connection plug will then be accessib-
le from the rear of the device.
For all devices:
▪ Stick the identification plate from the assembly kit beside the type plate on the DISOMAT.
▪ Close up the device.

NOTICE
MULTICAST services or closed ring may overload the network
The MULTICASTservices may overload the electronics processor if
MULTICAST services (e.g. webcam streams) are operated within the
electronic network. Use only Switche in the electronics network that support
protocols IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) for IPv4 or
MLD (Multicast Listener Discovery) for IPv6.
In a closed Ethernet ring there may be a flood of messages because some
participants send messages to all the others. These messages are for-
warded by a Switch in the network to all participants. If two Switche are
connected to each other via two different paths (closed loop) this results in
them continuously sending the messages back and forth to each other. This
leads to an overloaded network. The connected controls can be overloaded
by the flood of messages and cease operation. Therefore closed Ethernet
loop structures are not permitted.
The overload can be identified by the unusual high-frequency blinking LED
at the switch. The LED are allocated to the Ethernet plugs.

5.7.4.2 PROFINET IO network topology

This section describes the possible topology of PROFINET networks with Schenck Process weighing and
condition monitoring electronics using the PROFINET fieldbus interface module VPN8020 (VPN for short).

NOTICE
Quality of the components used
The PROFINET fieldbus interface module VPN8020 can be operated in the
conformity classes CC-A/CC-B. In CC-A, the PROFINET specification requi-
res IEEE 802.1D (Auto Crossover, Auto Negotiation) / Q (prioritization) / AB
(neighbor detection). In this case, we therefore recommend using compo-
nents which have been specified for PROFINET. In order to guarantee fault-
free operation in CC-B any other components (e. g. external switches) used
within the network must be certified for PROFINET.
In any case, only industry-appropriate products may be used.

Star Topology

Fig. 44: PROFINET star topology

The network participants are connected with the PROFINET-capable switch in a star shape. In this topology,
Schenck Process devices (example A, B) can be configured via the PROFINET network.

Line Topology

Fig. 45: PROFINET line topology

In the line topology, the bus subscribers are arranged consecutively. The internal VPN switch is used to for-
ward the fieldbus.
The drawback of this topology: if one of the front network participants fails, the entire downstream network is
affected.

Schenck Process Group - 47 -

Ring Topology

Fig. 46: PROFINET ring topology

The advantage of the ring topology is that each fieldbus subscriber can be reached in one of two ways. This
means that the no-motion state of a connection or participant does not lead to the total failure of the system.

Redundancy Manager 'Ring Manager'

In order to avoid circulating telegrams in the ring topology, a ring participant must be defined as Redundancy
Manager. This Redundancy Manager unravels the ring as long as the system is functioning completely and
in the event of an error closes the connection.
The ring can either be formed by a master with two ports or via a stub to a switch. All ring participants must
master the MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol). The VPN switch can do this.
The PROFINET fieldbus interface module VPN8020 cannot be used as a Redundancy Manager.

5.8 Legal-for-Trade Memory

A legal-for-trade memory module can be used for legal-for-trade memory storage as a substitute for an alibi
printer or for external legal-for-trade memory.
The VMM 20450 module consists of a USB flash memory module with a capacity of 128 MB. It can store an
average of 3 million weighings and can be replaced as necessary.

Installing a Legal-for-Trade Memory

A memory module can be introduced to the DISOMAT at any time. It is not secured against removal. The
device automatically recognizes that a memory module has been removed and will display an error message
at the next attempt to save data to the module. Changing the module does not affect the DISOMAT's opera-
tion.
Plug the module into the lowermost USB port (XUSB4) if possible. However, it will also work if plugged into a
different slot.

Organization of Data
The data on the calibration memory module cannot be manipulated and cannot be read out with standard
tools. The module can be scanned and the stored data read out with the DISOMAT.
The following search criteria can be used:
▪ Date/time
▪ Serial number
▪ String (left-aligned)
The individual data sets are simply stored sequentially in the legal-for-trade memory. The structure of the
memory module is that of a ring-buffer, i.e., once full, the data set to have been written first will be overwrit-
ten first. First a check is performed to see if the data set to be overwritten has reached a preselected mini-
mum age. If this is not the case, the data will be retained and an error message will be output. In this case
the memory module should be exchanged.
Each individual data set contains the following values:
▪ Date/time
▪ Serial number
▪ Gross
▪ Tare
▪ Scales status
▪ Formatting information (increment value, dimension ...)
▪ Additional, user-defined information

By pressing the "Test" button the DISOMAT can, among other things, show how full the
legal-for-trade memory is (after the first complete writing this will be close to 100 %) and
the date of the oldest register-day.
