 Give explanations wherever necessary.
 First 15 minutes is cool-off time. You may use this time to read the questions and plan

 No need to simplify irrationals like √2, √3, 𝜋 𝑒𝑡𝑐, using approximations unless you are
asked to do so.

1. 4th term of an arithmetic sequence is 17 and its 12th term is 49.

a. What is the measure of < APB ?
b. What is the measure of < AQB ?
3. The marks obtained by 10 students in maths exam are given below. 10 , 14 , 18 , 22 ,
26 , 30 , 34 , 38 , 42 , 46
a. What is the mean mark?
b. What is the median mark?
4. In a class there are 25 boys and 15 girls. One student is to be selected as leader.
a. What is the probability that the class leader will be a girl?
b. What is the probability that the class leader will be a boy?

Answer any 4 questions from 5 to 10. Each carries 3 scores.

5. The coordinates of the end points of a diameter of a circle are (3,4) and (-3,-4)
a. Write the coordinates of the center of the circle.
b. What is the radius of the circle?
c. Write the equation of this circle.

6. (a)What is the slope of the line passing through the points (5,0) and (3,2)? Write the
equation of the line.
(b)The x co-ordinate of a point on the line x-y=5 is 5. What is the y co-ordinate of
that point ?

(c) Write the co-ordinates of the point of intersection of the lines x+y=5.

7. The base radii of two cones are in the ratio 3 : 4 and their heights are in the ratio 5 : 6
a. If the base radius of the first cone is taken as 3 r , what will be the base radius of
the second cone ?
b. What is the ratio of their volumes ?
c. If the volume of the first cone is 180π cubic centimeters , what will be the volume
of the second cone ?
8. Draw a circle of radius 3.5 centimeters. Draw a triangle of angles 500, 600, 700 with
its vertices as points on the circle.
9. The sum of first 11 terms of an arithmetic sequence is 235 and the sum of first 12
terms is 300.
a. What is its 6th term?
b. What is its common difference?
c. What is its algebraic form?
10. In the figure <B=30 ̊, AB=8cm,BC=10cm
a. What is the perpendicular distance from A to the side BC?
b. What is the area of the triangle?

c) A metalic solid cylinder of radius 6cm and height 25cm is melted and recast in to a
solid sphere and a cone of same radius 6cm.What is the volume of the cone? Also
find its height.

15. A boy standing at one bank of a river sees the top of a tree on the other bank directly
opposite to the boy at an elevation of 600. Stepping 40 metres back, he sees the top at

19. Find the coordinates of the point which divides the line joining the points (1,2) and (7,
5) in the ratio 2:1.
20. Draw a circle of radius 2.5 centimeters and mark a point 6 centimeters away from the
center of the circle. Draw tangents to the circle from this point.
