G Reading: Inferring meaning
Read the text and write a one- or two-word answer. Use only words from the text.

The four personality types

Find out whether you are A, B, C or D!
Psychologists carrying out research into the way people act agree that there
are four basic personality types: A, B, C and D. Describing people in this way
helps bring understanding into personal and work relationships, and it’s
useful in recruitment: employers want to employ the right workers.
People with Type A personality like independence and prefer to be in control
of their lives. They make good leaders because they’re passionate about their
work, and really believe in what they do. They’re ambitious, and comfortable
with taking risks.
People with Type B personality are full of energy. They love being around
people and are often spontaneous, suddenly deciding to do things. They’re
light-hearted and don’t like to take life too seriously. They want everyone to
like them and worry about not seeming successful.
Type C people are logical people who think things through in a sensible
manner. They’re interested in detail and they make sure what they say is
accurate, as they don’t enjoy making mistakes. They find it difficult to deal
with emotional people.
People who are Type D like an easier pace of life. They prefer to slow down
and don’t mind doing tasks that are repetitive. This allows them to develop
excellent skills in their chosen work as they do the same things again and
again. They don’t like rules to change, as they like sticking to what they
know.
There is also a Type X personality. People with this personality are a
combination of the other types. This may mean that in some situations
they’re like one type and in another situation they’re like another type. Some
Type Xs have characteristics from all four personality types! This makes it
difficult to predict their behaviour, but it doesn’t cause problems for them.

1 The word in the text means scientists who are interested in the study of behaviour.
2 The word means being free to make your own choices.
3 The word means cheerful and without worries.
4 The word means correct and true in every detail.
5 The word in the text means the speed at which someone or something moves or
happens.
6 The word means typical features or qualities of people’s personalities.
