SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
A Simple Present Tense is used to express the idea that an action is repeated or usual. The
action can be a habit, a hobby, a daily event, a scheduled event or something that often
happens.
(a) Apply to a permanent situation or somethingthat aperson often forgets or usually does
not do.
e.g. I play the piano.
The school bell rings every moming at7 .45 a.m.
She always forgets to lock the gate at night.
We celebrate our grandmother's birthday yearly.
(b) Indicate a fact is true or is used to make generalisations about people or things

A farmer's son unwittingly trod on a serpent's tail. The angry serpent sank its fangs
into the boy who soon died of its venom. The farmer flew into a rage, grabbed hold of his

off its tail. The vengeful serpent returned to the farm and stung the farmer's livestock which

The Simple Future Tense has two different forms - will and be going to.
Although the simple future tense can be formed using Shall forl and We,itis more cofirmon
to use WilI for all nouns and pronouns.
