Hi everyone! I am Lisa. I am a university student at the department of Architecture, and I

EXERCISE 1. Read the text below, and complete the sentences below with ONE WORD
ONLY. Contractions such as “I’m” and “isn’t” count as one word.
This is Mark Johnson. Mark is (1) a firefighter. He’s 35 years old. He’s married (2) to Mary,
and they have two children. Mark works at a fire station in a small town. Every day, he gets
up at 5 a.m. He (3) has a big breakfast because he heeds a lot of energy for the day. (4) After
breakfast, he goes to work. He (5) doesn’t have a car, so he takes the subway to work. He
starts work at 7 a.m.

There is only one fire truck at the fire station. When Mark arrives at work, he checks (6) the
fire truck. Mark and his team sometimes get calls about fires. He works with his team to help
people stay safe. They (7) are always ready to help people.
(8) In the afternoon, Mark has lunch with his team. They talk about (9) their/the work, and
