IN COLLABORATION WITH VIDHI CENTRE FOR
LEGAL POLICY
The Kautilya Society of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law
University (RMLNLU), in collaboration with the Vidhi Centre for Legal
Policy, invites students to participate in its Policy Deck Competition.
This competition provides a platform for students to critically analyze
and draft innovative policy solutions to contemporary public issues.
Finalists will present their policy drafts during the Policy Weekend
organized by the Kautilya Society.

COMPETITION THEMES:
Theme 1: Data Anonymisation and Storage Policy
Reference - National Data Governance Framework

Sub-themes:
Cross-border Data Transfers
Privacy in Data Collection

Theme 2: AI Ethics and Governance Policy - Reference: Tamil Nadu


Safety and Ethics in AI Policy 2020

Sub-themes:
AI in Healthcare
AI Regulation for Automated Decision-Making

Eligibility and Team Composition:


Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled at Dr.
Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow.
Participants can register individually or in teams of up to two
members. 2
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Word Limit: 1000-1500 words
Every team will make a policy brief on only ONE of the suggested
themes
Font & Formatting: Times New Roman, size 12 for main text, size 10
for footnotes
Margins: 1-inch on all sides
Referencing: APA format for citations
Submission must include:
Acknowledgements
Well-referenced Bibliography
Proper Citations

POLICY DRAFT STRUCTURE:

1. Policy Title – A concise, relevant title


2. Abstract – A brief summary of core ideas
3. Statement of Problem – A clear articulation of the issue
4. Definitions – Explanation of any complex terms
5. Policy Statement – Framework covering:
Audience
Conditions and restrictions
Applicability/inapplicability
6. Exemptions (if any)
7. Implementation Procedure – Stepwise policy execution plan
8. Cost-Benefit Analysis – Expected costs and benefits
9. Concluding Remarks – Future policy implications

Relevance to Public Policy (25%)
Innovation & Creativity (20%)
Practicality & Feasibility (20%)
Research Rigor (15%)
Clarity & Organization (10%)
Quality of Writing (10%)

POLICY DECK

Top 5 team would be notified 5 days prior to the event to prepare a


Policy Deck (PowerPoint Presentation) on the policy brief

This policy deck will cover the essentials of the policy brief made and
the execution plan of the policy

IMPORTANT DATES AND PRIZES

Important Dates:
Submission Deadline: 18th March, 2025
Result Declaration: 23rd March, 2025
Final Presentation Date: 30th March, 2025
The top 5 teams will present their drafts as Policy Decks to an esteemed
panel from the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy.
The winning team will receive certificates, trophy and exciting
opportunities.
