Foreword
This standard has been prepared by the Normenausschuss Mechanische Verbindungselemente (Fasteners
Standards Committee), Technical Committee NA 067-03-05 AA Verbindungselemente mit Sonderformen.

The DIN 4000-160-4 tabular layout of article characteristics shall apply to screws covered in this standard.

Amendments

This standard differs from DIN 464:1986-09 as follows:

a) References have been updated.

b) Knurl pitches have been specified.

c) The standard has been re-structured.

d) In Table 1, thread size M3,5 has been dropped.

e) Clause 5 “Technical delivery conditions” has been completely revised.

Compared with DIN 464:2006-08, the following corrections have been made:

a) In Table 1, a number of symbols have been corrected.

3 Dimensions
Screw dimensions shall be as given in Figure 1 and Table 1.

4 Special design features


Designation details for special design features are given in DIN 962.

If knurled thumb screws are manufactured in two parts, these shall be joined so as to ensure that the same
torque will be transmitted as in the case of one-piece knurled thumb screws of the same thread size.
