Features
1.1 Introduction
The full 1000 Mbit/s Ethernet Demarcation Device (EDD) ISCOM RAX711 (hereinafter
referred to as the ISCOM RAX711), developed by Raisecom, is designed for the remote
access for the Metropolitan Access Network (MAN), Small and Medium Enterprise (SME)
access, and mobile backhaul network access. By cooperating with the ISCOM2924GF-
4GE/4C at the Central Office (CO), it provides a MAN Ethernet access solution that is of easy
service activation and deployment for carriers.
The ISCOM RAX711 has the following interfaces:
Two uplink Small Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical interfaces, which support 100BASE-
FX/1000BASE-X SFP and 10/100/1000BASE-T SFP.
Four downlink pairs of Combo interfaces, of which:
Four Combo optical interfaces support the 100BASE-FX/1000BASE-X SFP.
Four Combo electrical interfaces support the 10/100/1000BASE-T SFP.
The ISCOM RAX711-CLK provides an external clock synchronization interface, supporting
inputting or outputting 2 Mbit/s or 2 MHz external clock synchronization signals.
1.2 Characters
The ISCOM RAX711 has the following characters:

ISCOM RAX711 (B)Product Description
Grounding safety
Before installing the ISCOM RAX711, you must connect the grounding terminal of the
ISCOM RAX711 to the grounding terminal in the equipment room.
The interfaces on the ISCOM RAX711 and auxiliary parts are the intra-building
port(s), which are suitable for connection to intra-building or unexposed wiring or
cabling only. The intra-building port(s) of the equipment or subassembly MUST NOT
be metallically connected to interfaces that connect to the OSP or its wiring. These
interfaces are designed for use as intra-building interfaces only (Type 2 or Type 4
ports as described in GR-1089) and require isolation from the exposed OSP cabling.
Environment conditions
The environment where the ISCOM RAX711 is to be installed should meet the conditions
described in section 5.6.3 Operation environment.
Grounding conditions
The ISCOM RAX711 is suitable for installation at both CBN and IBN, and the grounding
resistance should be below 1 Ω. Well grounding is the first guarantee to lightning protection
and anti-interference.
The installation mode for the ISCOM RAX711 series is identical. The following
installation takes the ISCOM RAX711-CLK with hybrid power input for example.

Connecting fiber
There is invisible laser inside the ISCOM RAX711 and it harms eyes. Do not directly
stare into the optical interface, fiber connector, or breakage of fiber.
Connect fiber as below:
Step 1 Remove the dustproof cover from the SFP optical interface and SFP optical module, and
insert the SFP optical module into the optical interface on the ISCOM RAX711, as shown in
Figure 4-10.

Step 2 Remove the dustproof cover from the LC/PC fiber, align the fiber with the SFP optical
interface, and insert the fiber slightly into the SFP optical interface, as shown in Figure 4-11
When the optical interface is idle, cover it with the dustproof cover to prevent dust
and dirt from entering it and causing the ISCOM RAX711 to work improperly.

Q
QinQ (also called Stacked VLAN or Double VLAN) technology
is an extension of 802.1Q, which is defined in the 802.1ad
standard defined by the IEEE. Basic QinQ is a simple Layer 2
VPN tunnel technology. At the ISP's access end, QinQ
encapsulates an outer VLAN Tag for a private packet, so that the
QinQ
packet traverses the backbone network of the Internet Service
Provider (ISP) carrying double VLAN tags. In the Internet, the
packet is transmitted according to the outer VLAN Tag (public
VLAN Tag). And the private VLAN Tag is transmitted as the
data in the packet.
