2 Networking applications

This chapter describes typical networking applications of the ISCOM RAX711, including the
following sections:
 SME access and mobile backhaul
 Typical end-to-end ELPS
 Typical ERPS

2.1 SME access and mobile backhaul networking

As shown in Figure 2-1, in MAN access application, as an EDD, the ISCOM RAX711
connects to the ISCOM2924GF-4C in the uplink to implement SME leased line access and
mobile backhaul access.
An EDD can be connected to two ISCOM2924GF-4C devices to implement dual homing link
protection. Two or more ISCOM2924GF-4C devices can form a G.8032 ring network, and the
APS time is less than 50ms. In this application, network reliability is enhanced.
The SME user, eNodeB, or NodeB can be connected to the EDD flexibly for leased line
access or mobile backhaul through the FE or GE interface.

2.2 Typical end-to-end ELPS networking

As shown in Figure 2-2, in the application of connecting the headquarter and the branch, as a
remote device, the ISCOM RAX711 reliably connects them.
This application has the following features:
 Utilize existing Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network as the core network.
 Be connected to two ISCOM2924GF-4GE/4C devices. This implements dual homing.
 Support end-to-end Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) and high-
precision SLA test.
 Support end-to-end ELPS. This guarantees high reliability of network connections.
This application can use the MPLS-supportive ISCOM2924GF-4GE/4C as the Provider Edge
(PE) device.

2.3 Typical ERPS networking

As shown in Figure 2-3, in MAN access application, as a remote device, the ISCOM RAX711
can network with the ISCOM2924GF-4GE/4C.
This application has the following features:
 As the aggregation device, two or more ISCOM2924GF-4GE/4C devices can form a
G.8032 ring network. The APS time of the ring network is less than 50ms.
 The ISCOM RAX711 and the ISCOM2924GF-4GE/4C can form a G.8032 ring network.
This guarantees reliable access for downstream users.

4 Device installation

This chapter describes how to install the ISCOM RAX711, including the following sections:
 Installing hardware
 Installing software

4.1 Installing hardware

The ISCOM RAX711 adopts a cartridge structure. It is suitable for installation in a
telecommunication facility, and in a location where the NEC is applied.
It can be easily installed in the following scenarios of a telecom equipment room:
 ETSI 300-mm cabinet
 19-inch 450-mm cabinet
 19-inch 600-mm cabinet
 Open rack
 Workbench

4.2 Safety precautions

Static electricity safety
Any time when contacting the ISCOM RAX711, you must wear an Electro-Static Discharge
(ESD) wrist in good contact with skin and with the plug inserted into the ESD hole of the
ISCOM RAX711.

High voltage safety

When the ISCOM RAX711 is powered on, DO NOT install or dismantle it to avoid
unpredictable injury.

19
Raisecom Technology Co., Ltd.
Raisecom
ISCOM RAX711 (B)Product Description

Grounding safety
Before installing the ISCOM RAX711, you must connect the grounding terminal of the
ISCOM RAX711 to the grounding terminal in the equipment room.

The interfaces on the ISCOM RAX711 and auxiliary parts are the intra-building
port(s), which are suitable for connection to intra-building or unexposed wiring or
cabling only. The intra-building port(s) of the equipment or subassembly MUST NOT
be metallically connected to interfaces that connect to the OSP or its wiring. These
interfaces are designed for use as intra-building interfaces only (Type 2 or Type 4
ports as described in GR-1089) and require isolation from the exposed OSP cabling.

4.2.2 Preparing for installation

Environment conditions
The environment where the ISCOM RAX711 is to be installed should meet the conditions
described in section 5.6.3 Operation environment.

Power supply conditions

Table 4-1 lists power supply conditions for the ISCOM RAX711.

Table 4-1 Power supply conditions

Item Description
 For AC power, the rated voltage is 110/220 VAC,
Power supply
and the voltage range is 100–240 VAC.
 For DC power, the rated voltage is -48 VDC, and the

voltage range is -36 to -72 VDC.

Maximum power consumption 18 W

Grounding conditions
The ISCOM RAX711 is suitable for installation at both CBN and IBN, and the grounding
resistance should be below 1 Ω. Well grounding is the first guarantee to lightning protection
and anti-interference.

6.3 Terms
C
A standard defined by IEEE, used to diagnose fault for Ethernet
Connectivity Fault
Virtual Connection (EVC). Cost-effective by fault management
Management (CFM)
function and improve Ethernet maintenance.

E
It is an APS protocol based on ITU-T G.8031 standard. It, an
Ethernet Linear
end-to-end protection technology, protects an Ethernet link. It has
Protection Switching
two linear protection methods: linear 1:1 APS and linear 1+1
(ELPS)
APS.

L
With link aggregation, multiple physical Ethernet ports are
combined to form a logical aggregation group. Multiple physical
links in one aggregation group are taken as a logical link. Link
Link Aggregation aggregation helps share traffic among members in an aggregation
group. In addition to effectively improve the reliability on links
between devices, link aggregation can help gain higher
bandwidth without upgrading hardware.

Q
QinQ (also called Stacked VLAN or Double VLAN) technology
is an extension of 802.1Q, which is defined in the 802.1ad
standard defined by the IEEE. Basic QinQ is a simple Layer 2
VPN tunnel technology. At the ISP's access end, QinQ
encapsulates an outer VLAN Tag for a private packet, so that the
QinQ
packet traverses the backbone network of the Internet Service
Provider (ISP) carrying double VLAN tags. In the Internet, the
packet is transmitted according to the outer VLAN Tag (public
VLAN Tag). And the private VLAN Tag is transmitted as the
data in the packet.
