Capstone 4

You have just turned your hat making hobby into a business. You need to create a billing system to
expediate your work.

1. Open the capstone 4 starter file to get started.


2. Rename Sheet1 as Product Information.
3. In the Product Information sheet, add another hat color in cell A5.
4. Insert another sheet and rename it to Invoice.
5. In the Invoice sheet (cell B1), put the name of your hat store. Make sure to include your name as
part of the name i.e. Bartholomew’s Berets. This should be centered across the page and it
should be formatted so it is larger than the rest of the fonts. Feel free to change the color as
well.
6. In cell G3 enter the word date. Center and Bold it.
7. Below it (Cell G4) enter a date function, that will always show the current date.
8. In cell B7, enter Sold To: it should be bolded.
9. Put an outside border around the range B8:D10.
10. Cell B12 should say Hat Information. It should be bolded, merged and centered in the cells
B12:F12, with an outside border around the cells.
11. Cell G12 should Say Unit Price. It should be bolded and centered, with an outside border around
the cell.
12. There should be a light color fill in the range B12:G12.
13. Type and Bold this in the following cells:
B13: Hat Type
B14: Fabric
B15: Color
B16: Size
14. Use your data validation to display lists in cells, C13 to C16. The lists should connect to the data
on the Product Information Sheet.
15. In cell F14, Type Fabric Surcharge*, in cell B22 type *Fabric Surcharge is on Felt only.
16. Put an outside border around the range B13:F17.
17. For the unit price, enter a formula in cell G13, to display the standard price listed on the Product
Information worksheet.
18. In cell G14, enter a formula to display for the fabric surcharge listed on the Product Information
worksheet, only when a customer purchases a hat with felt fabric. A 0 should display if the fabric
is not felt. (Hint: You will need to use an IF function).
19. Put an outside border around the range G13:G17.
20. Type and Bold this in the following cells:
F18: Subtotal
F19: Sales Tax
F20: Shipping
F21: Total Due
21. Put an outside border around the cells B18:F21.
22. In the subtotal cells, enter a formula that adds the unit price and the surcharge.
23. In the sales tax cell, enter a formula to calculate 6% of the subtotal.
24. In the Shipping cell, enter a formula to display the shipping fee listed on the Product Information
worksheet.
25. In the Total Due cell, enter a formula that sums the Subtotal, Sales Tax, and Shipping cells.
26. Put an outside border around the range G18:G21.
27. Change the column widths appropriately.
28. Use the accounting format for all numbers in the G Column.
29. Protect the worksheet.
a. Select cells B8:B10, c13:c16
b. Go to format cells→Protection Tab. Uncheck Locked, so that the cells selected above are
not locked.
c. Review Tab→Protect Sheet→Ok
d. Make sure this worked. You should not be able to type in any cell other than the cells
selected above.
30. Sell a hat, to a good friend. In the ship to box, put in the name, address, city, state , and zip of
your friend. (Feel free to make up the address, city, state, and zip code.) Fill out the hat
information. See the sample below

31. Save the Invoice page as a .pdf. Name it InvoicePDF. Make sure it fits on one page. If it doesn’t,
resize the excel sheet as needed and then save it as a .pdf.
32. Go back to the Product Information worksheet. In cell A1 add a comment: Production
Information for the name of your hat store.
33. Add the following names to the list of document authors: your name, Anne Sanchez, Carol Statz,
Stefan Faulkner.
34. Add the following properties to the workbook:
a. Title: Invoice
b. Tag: Billing
c. Comment: Invoice for your store’s name
d. Status: final
e. Company: Your store’s name
f. Add the custom Checked by property to the workbook, using your name as the property
value.
g. Add the custom date completed property to the workbook, using the current date as the
property value. Set the data type of the property value to Date.
h. Encrypt the workbook with the password bill.
i. Mark it as final.
j. Save the excel file and the pdf in a folder. Zip and submit the folder.
