Here are the most important elements of an internship

progress report that you can follow.


Title page:
The title of your internship report should be clear, descriptive, and concise. It should give a general
idea of what the report is about, and it should be specific enough to be distinguishable from other
reports,
Include:
 The name of the organization or company you interned with for example “the bank
of X”

 The department or a specific project you worked on during the

internship;The duration of the internship for example: “15 days”


 It’s also important to make sure that the title of your report is formatted correctly, for
example, it should be centered and in bold font.

A. Background of the organization
This section should provide an introduction to the organization, including its history, mission, and
objectives. This part is important because it helps to provide context and a better understanding of
the work that you were involved in during your internship, by including the background of the
organization in your internship report, you demonstrate that you are invested in the organization
and that you have taken the time to learn more about its history and mission. Understanding the
mission and vision of the organization helps you to better understand the work you were doing and
how it fits into the larger goals of the organization, so overall this element is very critical in an
internship report.
B. Objectives
This section should outline the specific goals and objectives of the internship, including what the
author hoped to learn and achieve during the training.
The objective of your internship helps to provide focus and direction for your work and can help
you to prioritize your tasks and activities to ensure that you are working towards the goals of the
internship.
Your internship report objective could be: “To gain an understanding of the principles and
practices of sustainable monitoring and evaluation systems, including their role in supporting
sustainable development goals and their application in a specific organizational context”
At this point, it then depends on the type of internship and the different objectives you had, if they
are 3 then you include all of them if they are 4 then you do the same.
C. Responsibilities and Duties
This section should provide a detailed description of the responsibilities and duties assigned to the
author during the internship, including any projects or assignments that were completed. Under
the section “responsibilities and duties” of an internship report, you should describe the specific
tasks and responsibilities that you were assigned during your internship.
This section should be able to cover:
 The description of the work: describe the work you have been doing, including any
relevant background information that helps to put the tasks you undertook into context.
 Specific tasks and projects: Describe in detail the specific tasks and projects you were
assigned, including the goals and objectives of each project, the methods you used to
complete them, and any challenges you faced.

gained about effective teamwork.
 Time management: Provide an overview of your workload and how you managed your

This section should highlight the skills and knowledge the author gained during the internship,
such as technical skills, communication skills, or project management skills.
This section should be able to cover:

your personal and professional growth, such as building confidence, improving time
management skills, or developing a deeper understanding of your career goals.
 Project management skills: Explain how your internship helped you develop your project
management skills, such as prioritizing tasks, managing timelines and budgets, and
identifying and mitigating project risks. Provide examples of how you used these skills on
specific projects or tasks.
 Self-awareness and reflection: Discuss how your experiences during the internship
contributed to your personal growth and development, including any insights gained about
your own strengths and weaknesses, as well as your career goals and aspirations.

This section should be able to cover the challenges you faced during your internship and the lessons
learned. You can put the following elements under this section. By including these details in your
internship report, you can provide a thoughtful analysis of the challenges you faced during your
internship, and how you used these experiences to learn and grow. This can also provide valuable
insights for the organization and future interns, as they work to improve the internship experience
and overcome challenges in the future.
Here are some of the elements you can include under the challenges and lessons learned section:

 Description of challenges: Identify and describe any challenges you faced during your
internship, such as technical difficulties, communication barriers, conflicting priorities, or
a lack of resources or support.
 Analysis of challenges: Reflect on the impact of these challenges on your work and your
