reporting system that collects, stores, and processes information on safety-related activities and
events in aviation. It was founded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in partnership
with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) so as to guarantee the safety of
air navigation by discovering probable dangers and formulating the necessary measures to deal
with them. Planes ASRS allows pilots, air traffic controllers, mechanics, flight attendants, and
other aviation personnel to report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns free from fear of
After the reports are submitted to the ASRS, they are forwarded to NASA, which
functions as the system provider for the FAA. NASA's task is to gather, analyze, and then
distribute the data to the different units in the aviation industry, which includes the FAA, airlines,
manufacturers, and organizations (Naor et al., 2020). The FAA relies on ASRS data to study
trends and risk areas and to develop safety recommendations or regulations for the improvement
Nonetheless, the FAA is obliged not to use ASRS reports for law enforcement. It is that
provision that ensures that people who submit a report will do so voluntarily and with the utmost
confidentiality. Pilots, along with all aviation employees, must get an assurance that they are able
to report safety events and concerns without worrying about the possible reprimand to their
certificates or careers.
I believe that the ASRS is the key to improving aviation safety as it is the main tool. This
system promotes a culture of openness and transparency throughout the aviation community as it

offers a confidential reporting option. Crew members, along with other personnel, can decide to
share useful information without fear of any negative consequences, as a result of which safety
concerns that otherwise would be ignored can be identified. It will do so through the continuous
improvement process that is going on in aviation safety, resulting in safer and more efficient
