1. What do you known about ARPANET?


During cold war America developed a network named ARPANET. It
was developed for advance research project agency (ARPA). It was used
to send information to armed forces at long distance.
2. What is IP address?
IP address is a unique number that identifies a computer on the internet.
Each computer on a internet must have an IP address in order to
communicate with each other. The two types of addressing schemes are
called IPv4 and IPv6.
3. What are different types of IP addressing?
The two types of IP addressing schemes are called IPv4 and IPv6. IPv4
address consists of four bytes (32 bits) whereas IPv6 address consists of
16 bytes (128bits).
4. What is domain name? Why domain name is used?
DNS stands for domain name server. A domain name consists of text
instead of number. It corresponds to an IP address of a server that hosts a
website. The domain name is easier to remember than IP address.
Google.com is an example of domain name.
5. What is the difference between an IP and a domain name?
IP address consists of numbers and is difficult to remember. A domain
name consists of text instead of numbers and is easier to remember.
6. What is domain name system?
The domain name system is the method to store domain names and their
corresponding IP addresses. When the user enters a domain name such
as google.com in a browser, a DNS server translates the domain name to
its associated IP address.
7. What is top-level domain?
The top-level domain indicates the type of organization associated with
the domain name. For example, the .com in google.com indicates that
the server is maintained by a commercial organization.
8. Define web Brower with example?
Web browsing is a process of searching information on the World Wide
Web. Software used to search and view web pages is known as web
browser. Some popular web browser

9. Define Web Server
Web server is a computer that is used to shore information for the users
on the internet. It may b located anywhere in the world. A server is
connected to the internet 24 hours a day.
10. What is a URL?
URL stands for uniform resource locator. The URL is the web address
for any given web document has unique URL. A web address consists of
a protocol, domain name, path to a specific webpage, or file name of
webpage.
11. Define Email Attachment?
An email message can also contain attachments. Attachment is a process
of sending files with email message. Any type of file can be attached to
email such as documents, audio video etc.
12. What is email address?
The unique address of an email account is known as email address. An
email address consists of two parts. User name or ID represents unique
email address. The domain is the name of computer that stores email
messages. For example Ali12@gmail.com
13. What is ISP?
ISP stands for internet service provider. It is also called internet access
provider. It is a company that provides the internet access to the users.
ISP usually charges a monthly fee for an internet connection. They
provide different types of internet plans or packages for the users. For
example PTCL, Stormfiber, WI-Tribe, Wateen
14. Define Website?
Collection of related WebPages is called website. Each website has
unique address. Different types of website contain different type of
content. For example college.com.edu.pk
15. Differentiate between Internet and WWW
Internet is the huge collection of computers all over the world
that are connected to one another. It is the global network of
computers WWW stands for World Wide Web. It is also called
web. It provides the facility publish information on internet. It is a
collection of documents stored on computers permanently
connected with internet around the world.
16. What is a Search Engine?
Search engine is a website that provides the facility to find the required
websites on a particular topic. A person can search any topic on internet
using search engine. Search engine contains the record of different
website. Most popular search engines

 Yahoo
 Ask
 Bing
17. What do you known about Newsgroups?
A newsgroup is the discussion group on internet. People exchange
information on a vast range of topics such as news, business, science and
computer. The user can send or receive message anywhere in the world.
18. What is Web Publishing?
The process of developing and maintaining web pages is known as web
publishing. Web development does not require programming skills.
Many tools are available to develop professional web pages.
19. Distinguish between HTTP and HTML?
HTTP stands for Hypertext transfer protocol. Hypertext transfer protocol
is the standard used for the transfer of requests and responses.HTML
stands for Hypertext markup language .Hypertext markup language is a
standard used to create WebPages.
20. Distinguish between HTTP and FTP?
HTTP is to establish a connection with a web server and transmit HTML
pages or any other files to web browser. FTP is used to download and
upload files on the internet.
21. Define Web Hosting?
Web hosting is a facility for providing space on internet for storing web
pages. Web hosting is provided by different organization commercially.
