SEMINAR ON HUMANOID ROBOTS

ABSTRACT
Humanoid robots are advanced robotic systems designed to resemble and imitate human body structure and behavior.
These robots are developed for purposes such as assisting humans, performing complex tasks, and exploring human-
machine interactions. This seminar focuses on the development, structure, functioning, applications, and future of
humanoid robots.
INTRODUCTION
Humanoid robots are a unique class of robots built to replicate human physical appearance and behavior. These robots
generally have a torso, a head, two arms, and two legs. They are equipped with sensors, actuators, and artificial
intelligence systems to perceive their surroundings, make decisions, and perform tasks. The aim is to enable these robots
to work in environments made for humans and interact naturally with people.
WORKING
The working of humanoid robots is based on the integration of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering. They use
sensors (such as cameras, gyroscopes, and microphones) to collect information about the environment. Actuators move the
robot’s joints, allowing for human-like movement. AI algorithms process data and generate appropriate responses and
actions. Control systems ensure balance, motion, and coordination.
ADVANTAGES
1. Human-like interaction and communication
2. Capable of working in human environments
3. Helpful in elder care and patient assistance
4. Useful in education and entertainment
5. Support in hazardous and repetitive tasks
DISADVANTAGES
1. High cost of development and maintenance
2. Complex mechanical and software systems
3. Ethical concerns about human-robot interaction
4. Limited adaptability to unexpected situations
5. Dependence on large data and computing power
APPLICATIONS
1. Healthcare – assisting patients and elderly
2. Education – teaching aids and companions
3. Customer service – reception and assistance
4. Entertainment – performances and interaction
5. Research – studying human cognition and motion
FUTURE SCOPE
The future of humanoid robots is highly promising with ongoing research in AI, robotics, and machine learning. They are
expected to become more intelligent, responsive, and integrated into daily human life. Developments may lead to
emotional AI, enhanced mobility, and greater independence in functioning. These robots may soon become essential in
homes, hospitals, industries, and disaster management.
CONCLUSION
Humanoid robots are a remarkable achievement in the field of robotics. They combine engineering and artificial
intelligence to perform tasks that require human-like interaction. Despite current limitations, advancements in technology
continue to push their boundaries, making them increasingly capable and useful in a wide range of applications.
