NOTES:
(1) All required mechanical properties to be verified from a sample taken at the half radius
of the bar.
Material certificates for the “as received” condition of the part are to accompany the material.
The material certificate will indicate the relevant Twin Disc specification, the current revision
level for the Twin Disc specification and contain test results verifying that all mechanical
properties listed in sections II.X.b.i , e.g. “S947 Required Mechanical Properties”, meet or
exceed the listed specifications. The “Required Mechanical Properties” are a basis for
acceptance or rejection of material.
Cut bars showing evidence of piping or bursts are not acceptable for any material supplied
under this standard.
Continuous Cast Bar OD, length, turned size, etc., are within the discretion of the Purchasing
Department.
When a shipment contains bar stock from multiple heat lots, the bar stock is to be separated
by heat lot in/on separate containers or skids. A single container or skid must never contain
bar stock from multiple heat lots. The container or skid must clearly identify the heat lot
number for the bar stock contained in that container or skid.
The requirements specified in this standard also apply to machined complete parts purchased
from sub-contractors.
If additional properties are required for the material, these items must also be noted on the
drawing. Avoid reference to this material specification with exceptions, i.e., “same as S947
except ……”
