FARM RECORDS FARM RECORD Farm Records are written documents, showing major activities going on in the farming business.
They tell us about what is happening in a
farm business.
Farmers now use mobile phones, laptops
and desktops to keep farm records. IMPORTANCE OF FARM RECORDS 1.It enables the farmer to monitor the changes in prices of product brought or sold. 2.It shows the financial position of the farm 3.It helps to determine profit 4.Detection of fraudulent decisions 5.For taking informed management decision 6.For procurement of loans 7.For determination of annual tax 8.Determining the actual worth of the farm 9.For comparing management efficiency 10.To evaluate performance of an enterprise 11.To estimate future farm returns. 12.It provides basis for conducting research. 13.To monitor health status of crops and animals. TYPES OF FARM RECORDS 1.FARM DIARY It is a record showing all the daily activities on the farm. These are the records of all important daily activities and events that happen on the farm. These records help the farmer keep track of past farming activities and plan for future activities. 2.FARM INVENTORY This is a record showing the list of items on the farm. It shows the machines ,tools and other items on the farm. 3.INPUT RECORD This is a record showing the amount of items entering the farm and used for production. Examples are Number of fertilizers Number of bags of maize 4.OUTPUT RECORDS They are records showing the items or materials leaving the farm 5.SALES RECORD It is a record showing the sales going on the farm. It shows the quantity sold, the price and the time sold. 6.PRODUCTION RECORD This is a record showing the quantity farm produce gotten from plants and animals . 7.LABOUR RECORD This shows the number of farm hands, the hours worked ,the type of farm work done .
