𝑛=1 𝐴𝑛 and ⋂𝑛=1 𝐴𝑛 .

𝑚 𝑚
(v) Let 𝐴 = { 𝑛 ∶ 𝑚 < 𝑛, 𝑚, 𝑛 ∈ ℕ} and 𝐵 = { 𝑛 ∶ 𝑚 ≤ 𝑛, 𝑚, 𝑛 ∈ ℕ} .
Write down the set 𝐵\𝐴 by listing its elements.

(b) Let 𝑃 be a sub set of ℚ with the following properties ;

2. (a) Find whether each of the following relations on ℤ is an equivalence relations.

Justify your answer.

(i) 𝑥𝑅𝑦 if 𝑥 2 − 𝑦 2 is a multiple of 3.

(ii) 𝑥𝑅𝑦 if 𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 is a multiple of 3.

1
(b) Let 𝒫(ℤ) be the set of all sub sets of ℤ .Let 𝑅 be a relation defined on 𝒫(ℤ) by 𝐴𝑅𝐵 if 𝐴 ⊆ 𝐵 for
each 𝐴, 𝐵 ∈ 𝒫(ℤ). Prove that 𝑅 is a partial order in 𝒫(ℤ).

Is 𝑅 a total order? Justify your answer.
