INSTRUCTIONS

Goal of the Project:

Today we will unlock the hidden image into a message, generate a code for the message and share
with others.

Story:
Today we have learned to create a QR code for a text message.
XYZ company wants us to create a fun app with a hidden image message in the form of QR code.
Users can use the QR code scanner app to unlock the hidden image into a message, generate a code
for the message and share with others

(Refer to the image in the project document.)

Specific Tasks to complete the Project:

Our project as per the lesson was divided into two parts:
1) Project Part 1 - Design an app with Secret Image message hidden in the QR code
2) Project Part 2 - Unlock the hidden image into a message, generate a code for the message
and share with others

In the first project you must have used your designed QR Code Scanner App to unlock the QR Code
hidden image.
What did you see in the image?
Did you share the details with your teacher?

In this project, write a short message related to Scanned QR hidden image, generate a code for the
message and share with others.

Note: Design of the app was done in the Project Part 1

Step 1: Code your app

1) Initialize App Variable


- Go to Core >> Variables >> initialize app variable to block. Drag and bring on the workspace.
Change name text to MysteryImageURL
- Go to Core >> Logic >> null block. Drag and snap next to initialize the app variable to block.

2) When Generate Button Clicked:


- Go to UI components >> GenerateBtn >> when GenerateBtn Click block. Drag and bring on
the workspace.
- Go to Core >> Variables >> set app variable MysteryImageURL to block. Snap below when
GenerateBtn click block.
- Go to Core >> Text >> Join Text block. Snap next to set variable block.
- Omit the “hello” text and replace with a Web API
“http://api.qrserver.com/v1/create-qr-code/?size=150x150&data= “
- Delete the “world” text block.

- Go to UI components >> MessageTxt >> MessageTxt’s Text block. Snap instead of text block
deleted.
- Go to UI components >> MessageImg >> set MessageImg’s Picture to block. Snap below set
app variable to block
- Go to Core >> Variables >> app variable MysteryImageURL block. Snap next to set
MessageImg’s Picture to block.
- Go to Core >> Control >> Wait block. Change 1 seconds to 4 seconds.
- Snap below set MessageImg’s Picture to block.
- Go to UI components >> MessageTxt >> set MessageTxt’s Text to “Label” block.
- Delete “Label” text
- Snap below wait block

3) When ShareBtn Click:


- Go to UI components >> ShareBtn >> when ShareBtn Click. Drag and bring on workspace.
- Go to Advanced >> Web_API 1 >> set Web_API1 to block. Place below whenShareBtn Click
block.
- Go to Core >> Text >> Join Text block. Snap next to set Web_API 1 block.
- Delete “hello” text and replace it with http://tinyurl.com/api-create.php?url=
- Go to Advanced >> Web_API 1 >> Call Web_API1 Get block
- Snap below set Web_API1 to block.
- Go to App Features >> Share >> share message “hello” block. Snap inside call Web_API1 Get
block.
- Go to Core >> Text >> Join Text block. Snap next to share block.
- Delete “hello” text and write “Scan my QR code:”
- Delete “world” text block and replace the text item with a response block from call Web_API1
block.

Step 2: Test your app

Use your QR Code Scanner app which you had built in the class.
Scan the image you added in the Scan QR Code Image.
Check out the hidden image message in the Web Viewer component of your app.

Submitting the Project:

Step 3: Share the secret message

In this project all you have to do is tell the teacher what you saw in the QR Code hidden secrete
image message

*Note that the message you share with the teacher will be considered for evaluation.

REMEMBER… Try your best, that’s more important than being correct.
After submitting your project your teacher will send you the feedback on your work.
