Task 1

1. Download Topic 20.3 PropertySales.csv and save it as Activity_3_1_propertySales. Open it in

your spreadsheet application.

2. Delete columns L, M, N and O.

3. Merge cells L1 and M1 and give the merged cell a red background.

4. Format all of the cells in the range A1:J1 bold, italic with a blue font, size 14. Make sure all of the
data is visible.

5. In cell H2, create a formula to calculate the price per square foot of the apartment. The formula
is: Price/Area (sq ft).

6. Replicate the formula for every row of data in column H.

7. Format the data in column H to be United States Dollars to 2 decimal places.

8. Make the data in the range L3:M56 a named range. Name it Locations.

9. In cell C2, use a lookup function to display the correct location. Use the data in cell B2 as the
lookup value and the named range Locations as the table array.

10. Replicate the formula in cell C2 for every other row of data in column C.

11. In cell I2 create a formula to calculate the Sales commission. If the number of
beds is greater than 1, the Sales commission is 0.15; otherwise the Sales commission is 0.1.

12. Replicate the formula in cell I2 for every other row of data in column I.

13. In column I use conditional formatting to format any cell containing data greater than 0.1 to be a
red font, bold and italic.

14. Format all data in column I to be a percentage to zero decimal places.

15. In cell J2, create a formula to calculate the Cost to customer. The formula is: Price+Price*Sales
commission.

16. Replicate the formula in cell J2 for every row of data in column J.

17. Format all of the data in columns G and J to be United States Dollars to 2 decimal places.

18. Hide columns L and M.

19. In data view, take a screenshot of the dataset. Your screenshot should display at least the first 15
rows of data in the worksheet, starting from row 1. Save your screenshot as Topic20_3_1a in
your evidence folder.

20. In formula view, take a screenshot of the dataset. Your screenshot should display at least the first
15 rows of data in the worksheet, starting from row 1. Save your screenshot as Topic20_3_1b in
your evidence folder.
21. For this task, you do not need to actually print. However, follow the instructions and take a
screenshot of the final print preview.

22. Set up the printout to fit to 1 page,

landscape

orientation, displaying row and column headings and

gridlines

. Take a screenshot of the print preview and save it as Topic20_3_1_c in your evidence folder.

23. Save your work and submit it to your teacher as instructed.
