interdisciplinary programme for qualified health professionals and health service managers. It will

Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration)
The Master of Nursing Science (Pre-registration) (MNSc (Pre-reg)) programme is a 4-semester two-
year programme. The MNSc (Pre-reg) students with a health-related degree, a direct and faster route
to a nursing career. On successful completion, graduates will be awarded a Master of Nursing Science
(Pre-registration) and be eligible to apply to the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) to sit the
State Final Examination to become a registered nurse.
Graduates who have achieved a recognised bachelor’s degree in a health-related industry with a
minimum B grade (65%) in the third year of their qualifying degree will be considered for this
programme.

gain registration in the registered nurse scope of practice.

Graduates will be able to meet the health care needs of Maori, Pacific, rural and remote health

The aim of this programme is to provide you with greater capacity to work in specialised practitioner,
practice leader, manager, educator, or researcher roles either in a student's current field or within
specialised fields of practice which include: working with children and youth, the elderly, people with
disabilities, refugees and migrants and in the area of mental health. Graduates can become skilled in
a new field, or further advance their current specialisation.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Health and Social Practice will position graduates well to move into
Masters level qualifications at other New Zealand universities.
