Key responsibilities
▪ Liaising with the National Leadership Group and functional leads via regular meetings to
understand finance implications of activities within functional areas, providing financial and
technical guidance to non-finance team members.
▪ Development of non-pay budgets for all head office functions, liaising with functional leads
and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
▪ Reconciliation and reporting for all revenue projects, providing support and guidance to project
managers.
▪ Oversee reconciliation and reporting for fixed assets and capital projects, providing support
and guidance to the Assistant Finance Manager and liasing with the Estates team.
▪ Support the senior finance manager in producing accurate, timely, monthly management
reporting, including the preparation of accruals and prepayments.
▪ Preparation of Trust-wide consolidated balance sheet reconciliations
▪ Assist in the production of external reporting e.g. statutory accounts, ESFA grant reporting,
reporting to funders etc.
▪ Provide regular reports for budget holders.
▪ Support in the development and delivery of guidance to finance teams in relation to accurate
financial reporting and good financial management.
▪ Provide guidance and support to ensure that the Trust’s finance policies and procedures are
consistently applied, including identifying areas for improvement and implementation of
necessary changes.
▪ Provide financial information to support bids or tender documents to acquire identified funds or
grants.
▪ Provide financial assurance and assistance to the COO and central finance team members
▪ Support the year-end reporting process for the Trust, working closely with external auditors
and central finance teams to ensure accurate and timely provision of information.
▪ Provide support/cover for the senior finance manager for invoice and PO approvals during
absence.
▪ Preparation of the quarterly VAT return for the trust and of the annual partial exemption and
capital goods scheme adjustments.
▪ Collate information for the P11D and PSA reporting process, working with the academy
finance teams and the tax advisor to ensure that reports are submitted on a timely basis.
▪ Collaboration with teaching school teams in relation to:
- external audit and external reporting to ensure appropriate design of internal reporting
processes to meet external reporting needs.
- provision of information to external auditors.
