Assignment Structure
Students will decide on the appropriate structure and content. However, we
expect to see the following elements:
Introduction:
A good and appropriate introduction. Make sure to define the primary aim of your
essay in the introduction.
Main body:
1. Present and discuss the issues of the topic. Demonstrate in-depth critical
examination and discuss evidence of independent research on the topic.
2. Search the related literature using a variety of sources. Demonstrate what you
have learned from your study, by addressing the central question adequately.
3. Organize and structure your work so that the reader can follow the line of
discussion.
Conclusion:
The conclusion section is an integral part of every report. The conclusion should
summarize the main points of your assignment.
The following points should be noted for this part of the assessment:
Assignments assess practical application of the learned concepts in this
course.
Please Note:
1. This is an individual assignment, not a group task.
2. Your report should be submitted on or before the due date
3. The report should be between 4 to 5 pages excluding cover page and reference
pages

4. Accurate referencing of sources is crucial in this coursework. The referencing
system expected is the Harvard reference system. Please make sure you are
familiar with this.
Academic Integrity:
Students are expected to demonstrate academic integrity by completing their own
work, assignments, and other assessment exercises. Students must always submit
work that represents their original ideas. Plagiarism and sharing of assignments
will result in heavy penalties to the affected students.
Assignment 1
A manufacturing company has been experiencing serious lost time and disabling
injuries. After intervention of the regulatory authorities, the company Executives
made a strategic decision to turnaround their poor safety performance. Their first
step was to create a SHE department whose first assignment was to build and
promote a preventative safety and health culture. Discuss with practical examples
how the said company can promote an effective and sustainable safety and health
culture. 25 marks.

Assignment 2
You have been employed by a construction company to be in charge of their safety
and health programs at a new project site. Explain how you are going to develop
an emergency response plan and come up with a sample emergency plan for the
new construction site. 25 marks.

Deadline for submission 01 March 2024 at 1600hrs


Please send assignments as word documents not in PDF, attach assignment 1 and
2 on one mail on or before the due date. Send assignments where you are
registered either Harare or Bulawayo not to both centres for easier administration
of assignments.
