Introduction

The pie charts illustrate the consumption of sodium, saturated fat, and added sugars in four
categorized meal times in the USA. The amount has been measured in proportion.

Overall:

1. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that, the consumption of sodium at
dinner reached the highest, while the lowest level was recorded at breakfast and dinner for the
same nutrition among all of the pies.
2. On the flip side, the portions of saturated fat and added sugar intake in breakfast were similar.
7
Body one and two:

1. To begin with, it is evident that the added sugar intake for dinner contributed to 23% of the total,
whereas it was higher by 4 % from lunch, which occupied 19% respectively.
2. Additionally, the proportion of saturated fat consumed in snacks contributed 21%, whereas it was
lesser by 16% from dinner, which pitched in 37% respectively.
3. It can be observed from the chart that, in breakfast the percentage of sodium and added sugar was
broadly similar, the figures were 14% and 16%, having a gap of 2% only.
4. Interestingly, the consumption of saturated fat was half from added sugar in snack time,
attributing 21% and 42%.
5. It's notable that, in lunch, the consumption of sodium and saturated fat had the narrowest gaps of
3%, representing 29% and 26%.
6. It is worth highlighting that, the trend of consumption of added sugar in snacks followed closely
behind the consumption of sodium in dinner, the figures were 42% and 43%.
7. In contrast, the largest disparity of a fifth can be denoted between sodium and added sugar
consumed in dinner allocating 43% and 23%, respectively.

Sample task for pie chart

The provided pie chart depicts the breakdown of household expenses in a specific country
during the year 2020. The chart displays six distinct categories: housing, transportation,
food, education, healthcare, and other. The percentages indicate the proportion of total
expenses attributed to each category.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that housing and transportation were
the two largest expenditures, while education and healthcare accounted for relatively smaller
8
portions of household expenses. Additionally, a minor share was allocated to other
miscellaneous expenses.

To begin with, it is evident that, housing was the most significant expenditure, occupying 35% of
the total household budget, which indicates that a considerable portion of income was
dedicated to accommodation-related costs. It is worth highlighting that, transportation followed
closely behind, representing 30% of expenditures, suggesting that commuting and
vehicle-related expenses were substantial financial commitments for households. It's notable
that, food expenses accounted for 20% of the total budget, making it the third-highest
expenditure category. This suggests that a significant portion of income was allocated towards
meeting dietary requirements. It can be observed from the chart that, education and healthcare
expenses made up 10% and 5% of the budget, respectively, indicating that these sectors were
assigned smaller financial resources.

Sample task for bar chart

The bar chart shows the divorce rates in two European countries from 2011 to 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart illustrates about the percentage of divorces in Finland and Sweden within the
mentioned 5 years time phase. The percentages indicate the proportion of divorce rates
attributed to each country.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that Sweden experienced a downward
trend, while Finland demonstrated an upward trend. It is notable, both countries’ divorce proportion
had some fluctuations. Although Finland initially had a lower rate, it outraced Sweden at the end of
the period.

To begin with, it is evident that, Sweden’s divorce rate was about 45% in 2011, being higher than
Finland’s rate by approximately 8%, which rose to almost fifty percent in 2012. It can be denoted
9
that, the figure showed a gradual decrease to about 47% in 2013, and continued to decline steadily
to the end of the period, reaching around 45% in 2014 and hitting a low-point of about 37% in 2015.

On the flip side, percentage of divorces in Finland was less than 40% in 2011, and it decreased in
2012, when about one third of marriages in Finland ended with a divorce (as opposed to almost a
half in Sweden). However, the figure experienced a steady growth during the next two years. It can
be observed that, it rose to approximately 39% in 2013, then increased by around 3% in 2014, and
remained steady for the next year, outracing the rate of Sweden.

Sample Task for table

The table illustrates information about the population, infant mortality, and male and female
literacy of four different countries.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that female literacy is lesser than
male overall. in addition, the Ecuador and Bolivia has the hightest population in millions, while
minor one is for the other two countries.

To begin with, it is evident that, in Jamaica, the population is the smallest, whereas, the highest
number of people living in Ecuador, the figures were 2.5 million and 12.1 million approximately.
In contrast, Singapore and Bolivia have populations of 3.5 million and 8.1 million respectively,
denoting the largest disparity. Interestingly, in Bolivia, the infant mortality rate is 64 part 1000
Bart which is the highest.
10
On the flip side, the lowest rate is 3 per 1000 births, which is in Singapore. In Jamaica, the infant
mortality rate is lower than in Ecuador. The figures were 18 per thousand births and 27 per
thousand births. It can be observed that in Jamaica, 69% of the males are illiterate, whereas,
female literacy is higher at 81%. On the other hand, the lowest rate of male literacy is in Bolivia,
whereas the highest rate of literacy is in Singapore which were 91% and 96% respectively. In
contrast, in Ecuador, the rate of male literacy is 92%. While the rate of female literacy is 78% , in
Bolivia, which is lesser by 14%.

Introduction

The line graph illustrates the average output of carbon dioxide in metric tonnes for each

individual in four European countries over a forty-year period

Overall:

1. Looking from an overall perspective it is readily apparent that CO2 output per individual in the

UK and Sweden began the highest but witnessed a decline toward the end of the period.

2. Conversely, Italy and Portugal began with relatively low emissions and indicated large

increases by the end of the time frame.

15
both body :

1. To begin with, it is evident that in 1967, the UK showed the highest proportion of carbon

emissions at around 11 metric tonnes per person; however, this figure declined steadily

ending at approximately 9 metric tonnes for each individual.

2. In contrast, Sweden's output started at just over 8 metric tonnes, this then rose to a peak of

approximately 11 tonnes in 1977 and then witnessed a sharp decline to approximately half of

that by 2007.

3. On the other hand, Portugal in 1967 had the lowest output at just over 1 tonne per person.

Over the next four decades, this increased sharply ending at over 5 metric tonnes.

4. Interestingly, Italy demonstrated a similar rising pattern, beginning at a little over 4 metric

tonnes and leveling off at nearly 8 tonnes of carbon dioxide for each person by 2007.

Sample task

The line graph compares the data about how many people live in certain Asian regions from
1970 to 2020 and forecasts the population over a decade between 2030 and 2040.

Looking from an overall perspective it is readily apparent that, what stands out from the graph
is that the number of citizens will be increased gradually in all countries. Interestingly, the most
significant population will be in Malaysia by the end of the predicted period.
16
To begin with it is evident that in 1970, at the same level, 30% of people lived in Malaysia and
the Philippines. On the other hand, the rate of population in Malaysia rose considerably by 15%
in 1990, and then it saw a rapid growth by 2020 and it will grow to just over 85% in 2040.
Indeed, the proportion of people who lived in the Philippines fluctuated at a level of between
30% and 50%, while this figure will rise by 10% by the end of the period.

At the beginning of the period, the rate of population was the lowest in Thailand and Indonesia
at the level of 18% and 12%, respectively. In contrast, amount of population in Indonesia saw
constant growth multiplying 5 times by 2020, after that it will be shown a growth at just over
60% in 2040. Consequently, in Thailand, the population rate went up by 10% in 1990 and
leveled off at the same level until 2020, and it will be forecasted to climb to fifth percent by the
end of the period.

Process diagram re-cycling sample

The graphic demonstrates the life process of the silkworm and the phases in the manufacture of
silk material.

Looking from an o verall perspective it is readily apparent that, the lifecycle is a natural process
and contains four cyclical phases, beginning with the laying of eggs and ending with the birth of
a new moth from a cocoon. The production of silk is, in contrast to the previous stage, a
man-made linear process comprising of 6 main stages.

To begin with, it is evident that the eggs are produced by the moth and it takes 10 days for the
eggs to hatch into silkworm larvae that feed on mulberry leaves. This stage takes between 4 and
6 weeks before the worms construct a cocoon from silk thread, taking approximately one week.
They stay there for around a fortnight, subsequently emerging as moths and the process can
begin again.

The first stage in the manufacture of silk is the selection of cocoons and these are then boiled.
Once boiled, the silk thread is unwound to a length of between 300 and 900 meters. Finally, the
silk can be twisted and weaved into cloth before being dyed.
18
Process diagram manufacturing sample

The diagram displays the production of instant noodles in a industry.

Looking from an overall perspective it is readily apparent that it is an automated process that
consists of six main stages: mixing raw materials, producing dough strips, making noodle discs,
cooking, drying, and packaging.

To begin with, first of all, flour kept in storage silos is transported to a manufacturing center by
truck. There, it is combined with water and oil in a mixer to create dough. The dough then
passes through several rollers which knead it until it becomes dough sheets that have a
consistent texture and the perfect thickness for instant noodles. Next, the sheets are cut by
slitters into dough strips, which are subsequently placed in molds to form noodle discs.

The discs then go through the cooking process in which they are fried in oil. Once fried, they are
cooled and dried before being put into cups along with packets of vegetables and spices. Finally,
the cups are labeled and sealed.

The two pictures illustrate a park when it opened in 1920 and today. Overall, every feature of
the park has been changed except for the entrances and one of the three rose gardens.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that, the first at the far left side of the
image, the seats and music stage have been converted into a large amphitheater with
stadium-like seating. It is worth noting that in the Centre of the park, the two entrances remain
the same; however, the water fountain has been transformed into a rectangular-shaped rose
garden with seating around each side.

Interestingly, turning to the far-right side of the plans, the pond has become a play area for
children, while, the glasshouse is now a water feature. On the other hand, below the water
feature, and an underground parking area has been built and this can be accessed by turning
left of E ldon Street. Next to the entrance on Arnold Avenue, the rose garden has been replaced
with a café.

SAMPLE TASK
"Some people believe that children should be allowed to choose their own subjects at school,
while others believe that they should study a common curriculum. Discuss both views and
give your opinion."

● Question paraphrase
● Thesis statement
● Linker to maintain coherence
● Topic sentence
● Supporting details ( why- explain- effect)
● Examples

Education is a crucial aspect of a child's development, and the question of whether children
should have the freedom to choose their own subjects or follow a common curriculum has
sparked considerable debate. Recently, there have been certain people who opine that
personalized education can better cater to individual interests and abilities, while others
strongly believe that others emphasize the importance of a standardized curriculum for
24
ensuring a well-rounded education. In this essay, will decipher the viewpoints and suggest my
opinion.

According to many, allowing children to choose their own subjects assert that this approach
can enhance student engagement and motivation. Evidently, by tailoring the curriculum to
their interests, students may develop a deeper passion for learning, leading to improved
academic performance. As a matter of fact, personalized education can help identify and
nurture individual talents, fostering creativity and innovation. For instance, this flexibility may
also be particularly beneficial for students with unique learning styles or special educational
needs, as it allows for a more tailored approach to their learning which was underpinned in a
survey.

On the flip side, more and more people are of the opinion, advocates for a common
curriculum argue that it ensures a comprehensive and standardized education for all students.
Indeed, a set curriculum can establish a baseline of essential knowledge and skills, promoting
equity and avoiding educational disparities. One of the strongest arguments that underpin that
it also provides a structured framework for academic progression and facilitates the assessment
of students' academic achievements through standardized measures. One of the prominent
examples denoted in a research, exposure to a wide range of subjects through a common
curriculum can help students develop a well-rounded understanding of various disciplines,
which is essential for their holistic development.

In conclusion, while there are compelling arguments for both personalized education and a
common curriculum, a balanced approach is essential. Allowing some degree of flexibility for
students to choose certain subjects while maintaining a core curriculum can offer the best of
both worlds. This approach can cater to individual interests and talents while ensuring that
students acquire a foundational knowledge base. Ultimately, the goal of education should be to
empower students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly changing
world, and a blend of personalized and common curriculum elements can contribute to this
objective from my perspective.

g
A lot of places in the world rely on tourism as a main source of income. Unfortunately,
tourism can also be a source of problems if it is not managed correctly. Describe the

n
advantages and disadvantages of tourism in the modern world?

# In the modern age, it has seen a considerable increase in global tourism. There are
some areas have depended on tourism for their income and at the same time, it has
had an impact negative on our societies. However, there are both pros and cons
associated with this trend, which the essay will discuss them here.
# On one side of the argument, there are people who argue that the benefits of tourism
considerably outweigh its disadvantage. The main reason for believing this is that
countries’ income will be increased enormously the great tourist influx. Hence, it will
help to improve the standard of living for local people, and meanwhile, an economy in
these countries will rise. For example, developing countries liked Thailand and
Indonesia have become the playgrounds of tourists from more affluent ones. As a
28
result, these countries were focused their attention on this aspect and made
tremendous works to attract exponentially tourists.

# On the other hand, It is often argued thattourism can have an adverse effect on the
natural environment. This means the building of facilities and infrastructure can
destroy the habitat of wild animals. In addition, it can create pollution and waste. One
good illustration of this, what we see nowadays in numerous tourism areas of an

In the modern world, the nature of work has transformed significantly with the advent of
technology. Remote work, or working from home, has become increasingly prevalent. Like all
modes of work, it has both merits and demerits correlated. In this essay will decipher both
viewpoints further.

One of the definite benefits of remote work is the flexibility it offers. Evidently, employees are
often able to create their own schedules, thereby balancing their work and personal lives more
effectively. Such as this flexibility can also lead to increased productivity, as people can work
during their peak energy hours instead of being confined to traditional office hours. The added
advantage of remote work can save considerable time and money as it eliminates commuting.
One of the strongest arguments that underpin this is this reduction in travel is not only beneficial
for the individual but also for the environment. One of the prominent examples, it reduces traffic
congestion and carbon emissions.

On the flip side, there are perceived disadvantages to working remotely. One of the main
drawbacks is the lack of face-to-face interaction, which can lead to feelings of isolation and
loneliness. Consequently, it can also hinder effective communication and teamwork. Another
downside is the difficulty in separating work and personal life. With access to work from
home, it can be challenging to 'switch off', leading to longer working hours and potential
burnout.

In conclusion, while remote work offers flexibility and cost savings, it also presents challenges in
maintaining social connections and work-life balance. It is crucial for individuals and
organizations to be aware of these issues and to establish strategies to mitigate them
effectively.

1. Topic: In many professional sports, there is an increase in the number of athletes using
banned substances to improve their performance.

What are the causes of the phenomenon and what are some of the possible solutions?

● Question paraphrase

33
In many professional sports, it is becoming commonplace for athletes to abuse prohibited
substances to boost their overall performance. This essay will discuss how stiff competition and
lax testing systems are the main cause of this problem, and the most suitable solutions are
imposing heavier punishments on violators and revamping testing facilities.
The main cause of this problem is the fierce competition that exists in any sports. In other
words, most many professional athletes feel that they have to take substances like steroids to
give themselves an advantage over other strong opponents. Another reason is the lack of
strictness in testing procedures. Many athletes who take advantage of banned substances can
still get off scot-free due to the holes in testing systems. For example, a high-profile mix
martial artist named Jon John who is notorious for using PED described how easy it was to get
away with cheating in an interview in 2015.
A viable solution is to heavily punish lawbreakers. If sports clubs and establishments raise the
fine for using banned substances, many athletes will think twice before making attempt to
cheat. Another the way to deal with this issue is to upgrade testing amenities. This will
eradicate any holes existing in the system and ensure that the test result is highly accurate. For
instance, after the UFC had made major investments to provide their staff with the latest
testing equipment, many fighters in their organization got caught.

In conclusion, strong competition and ineffective testing systems are the main cause of this
problem, and the most suitable solutions are enforcing harsher punishments on violators and
reforming testing facilities.

2. In some countries, even though the rates of serious crimes are decreasing, people feel
less safe than ever before. What do you think are the causes of this problem and what
measures could be taken to solve it?

Although grievous offences are reducing, some people feel more insecure than they used to.
The main reason behind this is the increase of cyber bullying and hate-crimes, and the solution
would be to raise the general awareness among the masses and by promulgating new laws.
34
The primary cause of people not feeling safe than they used to is because the arena of crime
has changed. More people are interacting virtually over the internet, which is mostly
unregulated. Therefore, people are easily subject to harassment and bullying on social medias.
Moreover, people are also subject to hate-crimes which is a consequence of constant portrayal
of a certain group of people as evil by the media. For example, labeling the activities of
criminals, who professes the Islamic faith, as terrorists has resulted in an increase in hate-crimes
against Muslims across America.

The solution to such problems would be in educating the general people so that they are more
aware. This will allow them to act more responsibly. Also, the government can play their part by
enacting new laws that addresses the needs of time. This will make their citizens feel more
secure because they can have their problems redressed. For instance, the government of
Bangladesh recently enacted Digital Security Act, 2018 and Digital Security Rules, 2020 in order
to penalize offences that take place in the cyberspace, as crimes like online harassment and
cyber bullying was not previously defined as an offence.

In conclusion, insecurity among some section of the population is still prevailing due to the
change in the nature of crimes that are being committed nowadays. However, this can easily be
addressed by making people aware and also by making new laws.;

The Rise of Technology: A Positive or Negative Development?

● Question paraphrase
● Thesis statement
● Linker to maintain coherence
● Topic sentence
● Supporting details ( why- explain- effect)
● Examples

As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, there are diverse opinions on whether its
impact is positive or negative. Both viewpoints have valid arguments and this essay will explore
both sides before concluding.

Those who view the rise of technology as a positive development point out the numerous
benefits that it has brought. For instance, technology has revolutionized communication, enabling
people to connect with others around the world instantly. It has also led to advancements in
various fields such as healthcare, education, and transport, improving the quality of life for many.

Moreover, technology has created countless job opportunities in new fields such as information
technology, cybersecurity, and data analysis, contributing to economic growth and development.

However, there are also compelling arguments that the rise of technology is a negative
development. Critics point out that it has led to an over-reliance on machines, with people losing
basic skills such as navigation and handwriting. Additionally, the rise of technology has also raised
serious concerns about privacy and security, with the increase in online activities leading to a
corresponding increase in cybercrime.

Furthermore, there is the issue of digital divide, where those without access to technology are left
behind, increasing social inequality.

In my opinion, while there are legitimate concerns, the benefits of technology outweigh the
drawbacks. The key lies in using technology responsibly and ethically, and in ensuring that its
benefits are accessible to all.

In conclusion, the rise of technology has undeniably brought significant changes, both positive
and negative. It is crucial to navigate these changes carefully to maximize the benefits and
minimize the drawback
