These are used to input alphanumerical characters.


Address/numerical
input keys

There are address keys with two characters marked on one

Shift key. Pressing; the address key after pressing the1 shift key ;
(SHIFT) SHIFT allows the input of lower right characters. Pressing the shift
key, is displayed in the key input buffer to indicate the input
of lower right characters.

When the address or numerical input key is pressed, the data is


displayed on the CRT after once entered into the key input
INPUT key buffer. Press the INPUT key to set the information stored
into the key input buffer to the offset registor, etc. INPUT
key of the soft key can be used, as they are equivalent.

Press it to delete characters or symbols which are stored into


the key input buffer.
Cancel key The contents of the key input buffer are displayed on the
(CAN) CAN CRT. Then, the position into which the data is inserted is
indicated by _ when the address or numerical input key is
pressed. Pressing the cancel key, the character immediately
preceding _ is canceled.

The enabled operation varies depending on the screen selected with the function select key or the

chapter select key. Only the operation which can be made on the displayed screen is displayed as the
operation select key (soft key), leading to easier operation.
Refer to each operation instruction for the operation select key.

Note

Pressing the operation select key when no data is entered into the key input buffer, the soft

key is used as the operation guide key. The operation guide key can inform the operator of
the operation procedure and possible operation.
This is convenient when the operation procedure or possible operation is not known.
Pressing the operation select key after inputting the required data in key entry, the data is
immediately executed. When the operator knows the operation procedure without using the
operation guide key, the operation made in this manner can reduce the number of key pres­
sing.

However, some operations cannot be made without using the operation guide key.
This manual.explains the operation procedure when the operation guide key is used.

The possible operation varies depending on the operation selection key pressed. Only the operation
which can be made with the pressed operation selection key is displayed as the operation guide key
(soft key), thus leading to easier operation.
There are two types of operation guide keys; the one which immediately start the corresponding opera­
tion when pressed, and the other one is to prompt the key entry of the data which is required to start
the corresponding operation.

(1) Loosen the setscrew and take the
main spindle cap off in the direction
of the arrow.

(2) Hook the hook spanner at the cap nut,


put the tommy bar into its hole of the
main spindle and loosen. the cap nut.
(Note that the cap nut is right­thread­

(3) Take the cap nut off the main spindle.

(4) Set the collet chuck to the chuck


sleeve which is inserted into the main
spindle. If a chuck has already been
set, hold that and pull it forward to Collet

spindle again and secure it with the Chuck sleeve
hook spanner and tommy bar.
(6) Put the main spindle cap into the cap
mount flange and secure with the set­
screw.

(1) Push the chuck open switch and take off the cover by loosening the screw.

(2) Loosen the lock screw on the chuck adjustable nut which is behind the chuck finger holder.
(3) Turn the adjustable nut and move the chuck finger holder to the axis direction. (When the adjust­

able nut is turned backward, chuck power comes weak and if turned to the other side it becomes
strong.)
(4) Push the collet chuck OPEN­CLOSE push button switch and confirm its force.

(5) If fine­adjustment is necessary, shake the chucking Jever by the attached handle and confirm its

force by opening or closing the chuck.


(6) After adjusting, set the lock screw again firmly.

In addition to the standard synchronous rotary guide bushing unit, a fixed guide bushing unit is pro­
vided.

(1) Remove the fixing bolts which are located on the flange in the front part of the guide bushing
unit.
(2) Pull out the guide bushing unit forward by holding the flange.
(3) Put the new unit in the guide bushing pedestal.
(4) Screw up the fixing bolts firmly.

5 (1) Loosen the lead­in lock bolt on the Guide bushing


flange behind the guide bushing unit unit

(2) Insert a spanner’s pin into tommy hole Lock bolt

necessary, hold the main spindle cap
nut by hand for keeping the nut from
turning, or hold the main spindle in­

(4) Insert a new guide bushing into a
sleeve, when a key in the sleeve is fit­

rotation.

(6) Screw up the nut by the Y­spanner


and adjust a clearance of a guide bush­
ing and a bar material.
(7) Screw up the lock screw of flange after
adjustment.

3—3­—1 Set up of fixed type chucking


device (E32K U30C)
(1) Set up the fixed type chucking device Opposed 5­station
to the station No. 21 of the opposed turret tool post
5­station turret tool post. Therefore, Positioning section
select the station No. 21.
(2) Insert the positioning section of the

(1) Hook the attached hook spanner to

6 (1) Set up the rotary type chucking device Opposed 5­station

tool), turn Z­handle and move as much
it as you need on the basis of zero
position.
Note: When used by specifications in inch,
set the zero scale of the X­axis handle
to reference line 1”.
(2) Set the tool which is supposed to hold
in the tool holder in the tool holder
mount and settle by the clamp screw.

3­—5—6 Process of setting a boring tool


by means of drilling holders
(CDF101, CDF401)
(1) For CDF101, set X­axis by 25 mm (1
inch) position of (—) direction and Z­
axis by zero position. For CDF401,
the X­axis is set to 10 mm (0.4 inch)
position in the (—) direction when set­
ting sleeve to the outside mounting
‘ hole and the X­axis is set to 40 mm
(1.6 inch) position in the (—) direction
when setting the sleeve to the inside
mounting hole. This is the edge posi­
tion of a standard boring tool. In case
of the necessity to offset toward Z­
axis, turn Z­handle and move as much
it as you need on the basis of zero
position.
(2) Settle the sleeve in the holders as you
think fit. after inserting the boring tool
in the sleeve.
(3) Set the holder in the tool holder
mount and settle it by the clamp
screw.
Slide the boring tool in the sleeve and
set the edge by the base cross lines as
the figure.
(5) When the feeler is come into contact
with the point of the boring tool
upper side after swinging the dial­
indicator, confirm the indicator which
is situated near zero position which is
showed by the mastergauge. When the
indicator is not identified with zero
position, set the boring tool turning it
in the collet chuck.
(6) Tighten up the fixed screw and hold
the boring tool.
(7) Take the tool holders off the tool
holder mount.

3­5­7 Process of setting by means of a


holder for front and back
machining (CDF201)
(1) Set the X­axis to 25 mm (1 inch) posi­

turn the Z­axis handle to shift it as
much as the offset value in reference

(2) Temporairly fix the sleeve (ADS406)

the holder and mount it to the tool
holder mount. Secure it with the
“clamp screw and set it in the same
manner as for the usual drilling tool.

(3) Remove the holder from the tool pre­


setter and insert the back machining
tool into the collet chuck which is
* focated on the opposite side of the
sleeve.
(4) Clamp the back machining tool after
adjusting its tip to the position of 150
mm from the tip of the front machin­
ing tool.

3—5—8 Process of setting by means of a holder for back machining (CDF301)
(1) Mount the sleeve with the tool to be used to the tool set jig (CPJ101) in the same manner as for

usual drilling tool.


(2) Set the setting jig to the tool presetter in the same manner as for the usual drilling tool.

(3) Insert the tool set ring (APR101) into the sleeve in the appropriate direction. Clamp it with set­

screw while pressing against the setting jig.


(4) Pull out the sleeve from the setting jig.

(5) Insert the sleeve into the back machining sleeve holder (CDF301). Clamp it securely while pressing
the setting ring against the holder.

3­5­9 Process of setting a boring tool by means of a holder for back machining (CDF301)

(1) Mount the sleeve with the tool to be used to the tool setting jig (CPJ101).
Mount the setting jig to the too! presetter and set it in the same manner as for the usual boring tool.

(3) .Insert the tool set ring (CPR101) into the sleeve. Press its cut part against the pin on the getting jig

while pressing the tool set ring against the end face of the setting jig. Clamp it with set screws.

(4) Pull out the sleeve from the setting jig. :

(5) Insert the sleeve into the holder for back machining (CDF301). Press the cut part of the setting ring
against the pin on the holder while pressing the setting ring against the holder. Clamp the sleeve in
this state.

3—5—10 Tool setting of spindle for back machining

(1) Temporarily fix the tool to the tool spindle and mount it to the 20­station turret of the main unit.
The level of projection of the tool to be temporarily fixed should be minimized.

(2) Correctly chuck the corresponding work to the back machining chuck and shift it to the point from
which back machining is started. In general, a series of programs are executed in order, the work is
chucked to the back machining chuck after cutting­off is finished and the program is stopped when
entering the cutting feed operation for back machining.
(3) Shift the work forward about 0.2 mm by MDI operation.
(4) Press the temporarily fixed tool against the cutting­off face of the work and temporarily secure the
cap nut.
(5) Shift the work backward about 0.2 mm to return it to the original point by the MDI! operation.

(6) Securely tighten the cap nut.

3—5—11 Process of setting by means of a sleeve holder for opposed turret (CDF501,
CDF601, CDF701, CDF801)

© To set CDF501, CDF601 and CDF801 holder:


From CFF501 or CDF801, the X­axis is set to the (—) 25 mm (1 inch) position and the Z­axis to
(1)
the 5 mm (0.25 inch) position.
For CDF601 the Z­axis is set to the (+) 50 mm (2.02 inch) position.

(2) Mount the sleeve with the tool to be used to the tool setting jig (CPJ101) and set it to the tool

presetter.

(3) Set the tool in the same manner as for the usual drilling tool.
(4) Insert the tool setting ring (CPR101) into the sleeve in an appropriate direction. Press the end face

of the setting jig against it and clamp it with setscrew.

(5) Pull out the sleeve from the setting jig.

(6) Insert the sleeve into the holder and securely clamp it with the setting ring pressed against the end
face of the holder. ,

© To set CDF701 holder:


(1) Set the tool to the holder (CDF701) temporalily, and mount it on the opposed turret. The tool to
be set has to be minimal in length in this case.
(2) Set properly the work to be machined at the machining position, and move the Y axis to the
starting point of machining. .

In general, execute a series of machining program sequentially, and stop the program right before
cutting feed in order to machine by CDF701.

(3) Advance Y axis by approx. 0.2 mm (0.01'’) with MDI operation.

(4) Push the temporarily set tool against the work surface to be machined, then tighten the sleeve.
(5) Retract Y axis by approx. 0.2 mm (0.01") with MDI operation back to the original position.

(6) Clamp the sleeve firmly.

(1) For the cross­drilling spindle and cross­

(1) Adjust the X­axis and Z­axis to posi­


tions of (—)25 mm (1 inch) and
(+)25 mm (1 inch), respectively. This
position is the one which the edge is

sed material. It is necessary to offset
the edge as much it as you need by Z­
handle on the basis of this position.
For example, in case of flat­milling of

3—5—15 Tool setting to three­axis tool post

(1) Determine the projection level of the too! depending on the depth of a hole to be drilled. Securely

fix the tool to the sleeve and temporarily fix the sleeve to the specified position of the three­axes
tool post.
(2) Execute a series of machining programs in order. Select the 1 block mode before performing cut­
ting­off.

(3) Command execution of back machining program (M45 GOO Yyyyy ;) after finishing cutting­off.

(4) Pressing CB button after setting the mode change­over switch to 1 block mode to select C °
Y axes. If these axes have already been selected, select X ­ Z axes once and then select them
again. Then, the mode lamp (single block) will flash. The 1 block operation of the back machining
program is enabled in this state. )
(5) Press the cycle start button to proceed the execution of the back machining program. Stop the pro­
gram at the point from which machining with the corresponding tool is started.
(6) Slightly move the temporarily fixed sleeve to securely fix the sleeve at the position where there is
a little gap between the tip of the tool and the cutting face of the work.

Note: The three­axis tool may interfere with the back machining spindle or tool on the opposed tool
post when setting it to the position over 5 mm backward ( (—) direction) from the Y­axis ref.
point, so be careful of it. For details, see “3­10 Back Machining” in ‘“V. Programming”.

Tube support block

(1) Check if the centering of material tube and main spindle is correct. If it is wrong adjust the material

tube and main spindle have the same center correctly by centering screw (provided for both vertical
and horizontal positions).
(2) Push back the pushing rod inside material tube by holding the fan at its end and stop the rod at the

middle of the tube. Then, clamp the pushing string by pulling the clamping lever to the front.
(3) Open the chuck, pull out the material left inside from the guide bushing and push off from the
spindle front to rear.
(4) If the material left is pushed out of the rear end of spindle, pull that into material tube completely.

(5) Loosen the clamping knob on the material support, pull out material tube with tube support block
to the front by sliding the slide shaft.
(6) Pull out the material left to the front of material tube.

(7) Insert new bar material into material tube.

(8) Tilt the clamping lever while grasping bar material to unclamp the pushing string.

(9) Push in bar material completely into material tube.


(10) Pull the clamping lever to the front again to clamp the pushing string.

(11) Push back the material tube until the vertical centring screw touches the stopper seat by sliding the
slide shaft.

(12) Clamp the slide shaft by tightening clamping knob securely.
(13) Retract the cut­off tool by jog feed until the tool change indicator lamp is turned on.
J (14) Grasp the pushing string and tilt the clamping lever to unclamp the string. Push bar material into

the main spindle by advancing the pushing rod with the force of weight while letting the string go
off a little.

(15) When the bar material comes out of the front end of main spindle through the chuck, grasp the
material and let it go through the guide bushing.
(16) Chuck the material after the tip of it comes out of the mouth of the guide gushing.
(17) If necessary, sut off the material at 10 mm from the tip by jog feed or MDI operation.

(18) Retract the cut­off tool first and perform reference point return.
(19) Open the chuck again and chuck if the front end of the material touches the cut­off tool.
