Four days before the big day, Ana started to clean the
house. She swept the floor. She placed the trash out of the
house.
Three days before the big day, she visited her relatives
and friends. She invited them to be present on that very special
day.
Two days before the big day, she practiced a song with
her friends. She wanted to dedicate this to her special guests.
A day before the big day, she went to the market with
her mother. They thought of preparing something extraordinary.
Then, came the big day. Everything was perfect.

To infer means, you figure out what the author doesn’t

tell you using story information and what you already know.
We make inferences by:
• Thinking about how the characters feel.
• Thinking about why characters do or say something.
• Thinking about what may happen based upon what I
know.
We can use pictures to infer what is happening in the
text. We can also infer based on the title of the story. Another is
to look into the words in the story that give clues. These can
help us know and guess what is happening.

Drawing conclusions is using information to judge events

that is not clearly stated in the text. We use all the information,
facts, and clues available, stated or unstated in the text, to
conclude or judge the story.
