Day-02 Ev

The EV Design Masterclass aims to educate 10 million students on electric vehicle technology through a structured program that includes live sessions and internships. Participants can learn about vehicle dynamics, forces acting on vehicles, and various motor controls, culminating in a final project. The program offers a discounted registration fee and includes benefits such as access to recorded sessions, source codes, and certification upon completion.

MASTERCLASS

Day-02
VISION MISSION

Help 10 Million Students

to Learn the Technology
in Easy Way

@EV MASTERCLASS
HOW TO MARK YOUR ATTENDANCE IN
YOUTUBE LIVE CLASS?
Ans : During the Live Class, organizer will post Google Form link in Live Chat
Only

Note: The Link will be available during the Live. From the LIVE Class
date, the live video will get removed from the YouTube in 3 days.
VEHICLE DYNAMICS
study of how vehicles
move and respond to
forces

Controlled by
steering, propulsion,
and resisting forces
Gravity

Air Resistance (Drag)

Tire Resistance
(Rolling Resistance)
Examples
Accelerating on a Flat Road:

Forward force > Air + Tire resistance = Acceleration

Driving Uphill:

Additional gravity force requires more engine

power
Coasting Downhill:
Gravity assists in acceleration
Forces acting on vehicle
Total Tractive Force(TTF)
Rolling Resistance Force(Fr)
Aerodynamic drag force(Fd)
Grading resistance(Fg)
Acceleration Force(Fa)
Linear Acceleration Force
Angular acceleration force
Rolling resistance force
Frictional force opposing tire
motion on hard surfaces
Primarily caused by
hysteresis in tire materials
Hysteresis results in an
asymmetric distribution of
ground reaction forces
Shifts ground reaction force
(P) slightly forward
Formula: P= m*g
m= mass of vehicle
g= gravity force

Rolling resistant moment (Tr) = P*a

The force required to keep rolling (F) = Tr/Rd = (P*a)/Rd= Rd=P.fr
where,
fr=rolling resistance coefficient
now,
Fr = 𝑚∗𝑔∗ fr
Air resistance a vehicle
faces when moving
Increases with the square
of the vehicle's speed
Affected by vehicle shape,
surface area, and air
density

Aero dynamic force

Its classified in two forms, they are
1. shape drag
2. skin friction
Fa= (½).ρ.Cd.A.v2
where,
ρ – Air Density kg/m3
A – Frontal Area m2
Cd – Drag Coefficient
v - Velocity of the Vehicle m/s
Force due to gravity when
driving uphill
Opposes vehicle motion, Fg = 𝑚∗𝑔∗ sin θ
proportional to the slope's
angle

Acceleration force
linear acceleration
angular acceleration
At high acceleration, the acceleration force will be needed more,
At low acceleration , the acceleration force will be needed less,
The force formula is defined by Newton's second law of motion
Force exerted by an object equals mass times acceleration of that

Speed of the vehicle (ω) = (Velocity/Radius of
wheel) x gear ratio
𝑃=T . 𝜐/𝑟 𝑥 𝐺
To find the critical velocity we can use the
